GT40P HEADS!!!!!!!! WHOO!!!!! i went to the junkyard hoping to find gt40 heads. and when i look at the heads, i find a little P next to the GT40. My eyes opened . I jumped right on it. Ill post some pics now. i need to take some. oh and i got them both complete for $76.13

Im so happy. i was expecting about a good $100-150. but nope, i still got some money in my wallet. but yeah, im happy as hell. now i gotta get them ported and valve job.

quick question though, can i run 1.7's on them with a modified cam?

yeah, you should. My brother is going back next week and grabbing a set from an explorer. Its complete. intake and everything. no one has touched in the past few weeks. So hopefully he'll grab a set and do the same i am and he wants to slap em on his 71. He has shaved e7's he got for free. So he needs to lower his compression so he can bolt on his blower. hes gonna go for gt40's

Well, i already have a Cobra Intake, and a Explorer 65mm TB on my car.

I just need some GT-40P's. If i get em worked a bit, port my Cobra lower and slap that combo together, it should keep me happy while i finish the rest of the suspension and car and then build a sweet drivetrain later on

sounds like the setup im going for. im just gonna port out my heads, 3 angle valve job, port my intake, convert to MAF with 24 lb injectors and custom cam for 1.7 RR and possibly go from the 65mm TB to a 70.

suspension-wise, i have SF connectors, chassis brace, next is the monte carlo bar, and springs.

an no sammich, the other 2 where in the trunk.

annddd we both did the work.

nice find man. and whats a monte carlo bar?

I was reading an old '03ish article about Robin Lawrence's FS coupe today, and he said in his opinion the '96 non-P heads in particular have the best flow characteristics and make the best power of all the "GT" heads. I found that interesting since the general opinion is that the Ps are superior. His car is/was running 11.70s with'em so i guess he knows something.

:rlaugh:

and some say that about the non P's but i looked up the flow chart and the non P flow better on at .500 i think it was and it was barely a difference. the main thing about P heads is the combustion chamber and spark plug angles. It also raises your compression up to 9.5:1

the only downside to it is that i need to buy shorty headers from mac specifically for P's. They are $299 :notnice:. and the cam im getting is 299 also. thats about 600 bucks on 2 things. and then i gotta port out heads and intake and all that stuff. sucks ass. but oh well. with time itll come together. im not gonna do anything performance/engine-wise until i have EVERYTHING set there for it. for now im going for suspension, chassis, and drivetrain. basically have a good foundation for a strong motor.
