Actually I don't hate the cars,...I hate the attention they get purely because they show up.

The more expensive the fender badge, I.E. Shelby, Rousch, Saleen,.... The more Goo-Gah the spectator is. Let the car be some bright color (like the new Lime Green on the new Rousch) and it's over,...might as well take your junk home.

I was at a local cruise in tonight and parked in my cluster of fox/SN 95's. The whole bunch of us flanked by the cars mentioned above. ( A literal scourge of $40k plus late models) We may as well have had a yellow tape wrapped around us stating that the area we were parked in had been Quarantined w/Ebola Virus.

It sucks that all it takes now to attract the eye of the average lay person walking around a car show is to walk into a Ford dealership and buy it.:nonono:

Bunch of military joes picking up built cars here, I live by fort hood. It's raining performance cars here, that is, that are store bought built.
The upside is that you can build a faster than a 2013 Gt or boss for cheaper and have that smile on your face about your 20 or so year old car beating it out.
Next time park right next to the s197s and show them a real car :D

I did,.... the lime green '12 Rousch was right next to me. ( they were flanking us on both sides) The people that gawk at the new cars don't care that a 20k fox could/might beat it in a drag race.
It's been said on here before that the selling point for the new body is to drive it. I'm quite sure that most would trade smelling like exhaust fumes for the sanctity of that retro cabin. The Aftermarket loves these cars, The body screams hot rod right outta the box, and that 420+ HP new 5.0 is supposed to be ripe for power mods, and they aren't that slow to begin with. I wouldn't get too froggy the next time you think you'll beat one of them w/ your N/A 347.

well I see the real fox advantage is in weight. 600 lbs lighter than their car, huge difference.
You're more of a show guy anyways, I'm sure your car gets a lot of looks, do people really skip over yours for the s197?

Look dude,...when it is a non "all Ford" event like a local cruise night, and the average spectator walking around is some guy holding a McDonalds drink cup, (Because McD' is in this parking lot) then hell yes they pass over my car,.... right along w/ the T topped 86 that set next to me, the SVO that was next to him, the few Aero nose cars, and the one token retard driving the 95 GT to the far right that was capped by two GT 500's on the other end.

It must be like this in the mind numbness of the Mickey D dude as he walks by, starting at the far right:

GT 500, GT 500, 95GT, 87 vert,90GT, SVO, 86GT, ME, Rousch
OOOOHHH!...OOOOOHH!! ..............................................................????........OOOOHHH!

Ikeed, Ikeed... :D

Gotta say Mike, I went new 5.0 for the power, creature comforts, styling, ride, and the fact that it just "is" the car that I have wanted. I was always modeling my old cars (especially interiors) after the muscle cars of the past, and this car has all those little retro features from the factory. The fit and finish is far superior to my old cars, and I just dont have the time with my young family to be out in the garage building a project car. Plus, this car has over 400 hp stock, and with the addition of a CAI, off road exhaust, and a tune, you can acheive 410-430 RWHP depending on if you bought headers with your exhaust system. Even with that power, I still average 17 mpg in town, and 25 on the highway. Thats amazing to me, and why I respect these new cars the way I do. All that being said, I would never pass your car by at show without asking you about it, but that is because I respect those that build their own cars because I share that same enthusiam.

ehem! im 22 and have a terminator :nice:

Now before I'm burned in effigy, I did not say that there weren't REAL car guys in that age group (I've met a few). What I WILL say though, is that the largest majority of folks who THINK they are car guys from that age group are REALLY just....

*serious hat*
Well Mike, look at it this way- I've seen little sideways hat, saggy pants tards walk past a '70 Mach at a car show to drool over a Honda with a fartpipe and a park bench spoiler. You just gotta consider what you're working with, man.

Happens to me every Saturday night at the cruise ins I go to. Of the cars I take, the 66 Chevelle gets the most attention, hands down, even with 50ft paint and no headliner. The Bullitt is next. If I take the 82, which is by far the most modified and quickest car, very few people stop and look.

For the most part, there are few Foxes at these events. Maybe most modded Fox owners take them to the track. I usually see several there when I go, and they are 10 sec kind of cars, except mine.

Here, there is a major group of people that turn out with 05 and up GTs, Roushes, and Shelbys. Last night there were four or five of those, including Bullitt, and about eight Terminators, etc. Maybe two foxes. Out of 50 cars left when I got there. Couple of 49 to 55 Mercs, go figure. Pretty good Ford rep all told.
