i have a 64.5 and i want to convert to alternator. can anyone help?

i recently bought a mustang and i love it. its been giving me hell though. my car has spent more time parked than driven. anyway i want to convert from generator to alternator. can anyone help?

i bought an alternator for a 65. i also purchased a voltage regulator for a 65w/ alternator. i went to the junkyard to get the wires from some old ford boat car that had the identical regulator and alternator as mine. i wired it up and it still dies when i unplug the negative on the battery. which means that the car was running on the battery. and the alternator was not working. anyone ever done this or know what else could be the problem? if anyone can help please write back. it sucks walking around or bumming rides.

what i did for this swap on my falcon is, i went to auto krafters and purchased a one wire conversion kit for ford alternators, max alt output it can handle is 55amps. then i went to wutozone and bought a rebuilt 55amp alt. the conversion is easy, and i was able to use my stock indicator light as well.
