I have a 1990 5.0 with 199,900miles. Unfortunately a short list of problems to go along with it. First I noticed the brake lights not working. Then a week later no A/c blower motor or turn signals but the hazards work. I replaced the switch on the column and now the blower and signals work but I cant get the car to start now. It sounds like the fuel pump is trying to push a football through the lines. And I doesn't feel like the motor is even turning over. But it gets better! I tried starting it so much that it just clicked and is now totally dead. Please help with problem solving ideas. Driving my truck is just not as fun.

You posted a TECH question in Talk. This limits your chances of getting some really good advice, since most guys aren't looking for Tech stuff in the Talk forum.

Having said that, here’s some help…

It is time to buy or borrow a battery charger as a first step. Low battery voltage makes a lot of things not work right, and the fuel pump is one of them. Once you have the battery up to full charge, then try again. I have troubleshooting checklists for both no crank and cranks OK but no start. At this time ,it is unclear which one you need. Therefore charge the battery and try again.

Then you can test the fuel pressure. Most parts stores let you checkout a test gauge, though I'm not sure what the target PSI should be.

Im thinking that stock fuel pressure is somewhere in the neighborhood of 38 or 39 at idle but i could be wrong.

Just to get it out of the way, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

Did you get the car wet recently?

Did you put gas in it after midnight?
