Well what is the ultimate goal of the car? Just some bolt ons and have fun with it? Or do you want to get a little more serious with it and get some heads/cam?

If it was me, and i was starting from scratch, i would do heads/cam/rockers/intake manifold first. Of course that is gonna cost in upwards of 2400 (depending on head choice and cam). But saving and doing things right the first time around is the best way to do it.

Theres alot of good cams out there. I ran a B cam advanced 2 degrees and had good results with it (times in sig), but im sure there are better choices out there. When looking at the cam, you dont want one with too low of LSA or it will cause problems with the computer. But then again, this can be cured with a tune/ tuner(tweecer).

Also, some 3.73 gears or 4.10's will make the car alot quicker and MUCH more fun to drive.

What kind of mufflers are you getting? I guess it all depends on how serious you want to get but if you just want a fun daily driver gears, pulleys, and a shifter (just for fun) would be a good start.

first of all 1,000 wont' get u everything. start with sone pulleys and a set of rear end gears. a 3.73 for example. pulley starts from 99$ and the rear end gears are about 190$. next i would go with an intake manifold and then cylender heads. cam shaft is not a bad idea but i will leave till later on. new set of injectors and if u wanna sone to have some fun go with the bottle

That's really not much money, but you can get a nice start to a solid engine combo with it. My personal choices if I had $1000 and a stock 'stang:

Free mods - remove air silencer, advance timing, some weight reduction

K&N filter and make a cold air intake
3:73 Gears + install = $300-400
Underdrive pulleys = $100 max
Mass air meter = $200 approx
Throttle body = $180 approx

Those will add some speed to the 'stang. And when you do upgrade intake/heads/cam, you won't have to worry about restrictive MAF or TB
But those are just my personal preferences. You could also look at lowering ur car, or new wheels/tires, new hood, etc. Also, tmoss ported lower intake is pretty cheap, so are thumper heads, and you'd get a nice power increase with those.

i would save a couple hundy more and go for some heads. TFS tw. You will need gaskets, push rods and headbolts. Gears are cool. TB won't help till you get an intake and a MAF.

You want a noticeable difference and make 50 more hp then get a set of heads. How ofter are you going to be that close to having that much saved up anyways.

I would go gears and then start saving up for some heads. Oh, and a good set of sticky tires never hurt anything.
