I installed my home made Subframe connecters.

From my days as an aircraft mechanic...
Welded tube structures should be welded closed and a small amount of paralketone squirted inside the tube via a small hole drilled in the highest part of the tube. Once the paralketone is in place, the hole should be plugged with a screw, or rivet and some sealer. This keeps thew tubing from rusting inside.

I dont know what paralketone is. LOL

Im happy with the way it turned out. I am going to be installing a off road h pipe soon. I will probably wd40 inside the tubes real good and put some plastic caps in like mentioned before.

Honestly though, every set I have ever had, even my kenney brown matrix kit was not capped.

Linseed oil is the alternative to paralketone. Lit is available at some of the paint stores.

those look great! wish i could weld.... id feel uncomfortable taking some 'scrap' tubing to a shop to weld on.

Thanks.

If you want to come over to Indiana sometime I can hook you up.
Your only a couple hrs away. I got a tractor supply down the road and a mig welder in teh garage.

they came out real nice...they look alot like mine but they dont have the seat cross bar...any plans to fab up one of those? i think you could use a piece of 1" angle iron...mine were prefabbed so i just welded em in...

jim

I thought about it. jrichker had posted a link to drawings for the connectors and the bracket. I decided to just do the connectors.

Looks good. Nothing like making it yourself. I would suggest a few things though. Maybe add a second 1"x1" box on the inside to make them larger. MM connectors are 1.5" x 2", a single 1"x1" seems a little small. Close the ends off or they will rust out from inside and add an angle bracket to the seat mounts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have the car on a lift later on to do H pipe. Ill look at things closer then and make any adjustments needed.
