I have a vert also. Its a 91, and so far the motor for the top has been fine. Like everything else that has broke on my car it will be at the most inconvienent time. I was wondering is there a way to buy pass the motor and hydralics if they would ever fail,just put the top up and down manually. It seems as thought the repairs for the motor and pump are pretty expensive.

you can do it by hand anyway, if you remove the pump it'll move easier but the fluid will go everywhere, and just go to the junk yard and get a used motor, their cheap and easy to change, i think i have one in my mom's basement
