Hey I have a 2003 gt. Im looking to upgrade the gears. I currently have stock 3.27 gears. I want to be able to drive on the highway if needed to go on 3 or 5 hour trip. I know everyone is in favor of 4.10's but Im not racing and Im only going to run stock tires. Im afraid if I put 4.10's in I wont be able to put the power to the pavement with stock tires. I think they will just roast the tires. Should I just go with 3.73's or 3.55's ? Also is it harder on the transmission with the increase in the gear ratio ? please leave your opinion Im a nubee!

thanks

Ill vote for the 4.10s I drove my friends car with 4.10s and it was perfect. They are not that extreme as you might think. I have 3.55s in my car (kinda stock, i guess you might say) and i am upgrading to 4.10s.

my vote is for 373's
the 410's made my car noisy and loud in my 20 mile commute on the highway

After I put in 4:10s last year, I have been driving back and forth to Indiana (6 hr drive) about 3 different times a year. And the car does just fine on the highway. 4:10s are not as bad on the highway as some people say they are.

unless you want to drive 100 + that's when the rpms start screaming..

Check out this thread:

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=391434

I put a little table in there showing the various RPM for each gear at certain speeds. Decide for yourself if you can live with those engine speeds at those car speeds.
