I know I'm not supposed to reuse a gasket but......

.....I took off the upper intake and didn't have a gasket on hand. I was replacing the fuel injectors and going through the haynes manual and it never mentioned needing one. I knew I was screwed when I pulled the top off and saw I did need one (why didn't I think about this????: ). Anyways I just reused it......this was about 1 1/2 months ago.

What might happen? Will my car now explode?

I have reused my upper several times... as long as its straight and not messed up at all you should be fine.

I hav reused the upper manfiold gasket when it was in good shape. The clue is that the gasket does not stick to the mating surfaces. If you can lift it off and it didn't stick, you can reuse it.

If you are worried about the seal between the upper intake and the heads, you can run a thin bead of RTV along the head/intake mating surfaces down around the intake/block surface and then you will know for a fact that the intake is sealed to the motor.

But if it has been 1 1/2 months and you have no operational concerns (high idle, coolant in oil) then you have escaped unscathed.

BTW, I reuse gaskets all the time. As long as they are intact and still a little flexible, I reuse them.

Yep,what they said.I've had my upper off about 6 times in the past 2 weeks doing different mods to the car.Still using the same gasket,no problems.
