I found an '88 Thunderbird Sport today.Leather interior,5.0,floor shifted AOD,full gauges. The guy said I could have it for $350.00.I'm going to take him a check and take some pics next Tuesday. The car runs great, but the paint is faded and the seats have some tears. No big deal. The body is in great shape,no rust (of course "no rust",I'm in Oklahoma).Just thought I'd share.

A Turbo-Coupe??? NO WAY.....unless I install a turbo on the 5.0. No 4 bangers allowed.I'll probably put it up on jackstands and start slowly upgrading it.5 lug swap,H.O. swap like my current Bird, and a few other things.I don't know what rear it has yet.I'd guess an 8.8 since it's a Sport model.I hope it has a Locker,if not,I have one on the garage floor needing a place to be.It'll be nice to be able to work on a car without having to have done by work time the next day.I have a lot of ideas. One piece at a time.

I promise not to do that.LOL.I prefer a factory look.If I modify anything on the body,I want it to appear that Ford did it.The Thunderbirds make great sleepers. You can do anything to them that you can do to a Mustang, and not many people give them a second look.

my old dd was an 88 t-bird auto 302 , sport model , but i believe htey only come with a 7.5 rear atleast mine was like that .

so got tired of that sold it for 500$ and bought an 88 turbocoupe 5 speed

needless to say the turbocoupe is all around better , gas mileage , just driving and still clocks off high 14's on occasion

oh i have a blast bangin gears in the thing ..... on my 14.9 passes i just had a k&n cone filter and some et streets on the rear for a whooping 2.0 60ft , boost was at 15psi

then i got a manual boost controller turned it all the way up and was pegging the stock gauge , took the exhaust off and gutted the down pipe ....... these 2 things made a huge difference .............

then my clutch blew

Now that I worked out my head gasket problem, and plugged in the #4 fuel injector (had it unplugged,so,no gas to that cylinder),I think the bird should do well at the track next time.I'm hoping in the low 14's.We;'ll see as soon as my next saturday off comes around.I know the Turbo Coupe is a good all around vehicle, but,I like a V-8.

I had an '87 V8 T-Bird that I was planning to really make into a sweet car. It was silver with a blue interior. I put Turbo Coupe seats front + back and console. I wanted to get it running with aftermarket hi-po stuff, but I drove it off a mountain in Colorado before I ever got there. True story and not a good one too.

Mine started as a standard 5.0 car, column shift,14 inch wheels, power seat, the "light" package (auto dimmer, auto lights, curb lights, door lock lights),and that's it.I added a console and floor shifter, turbo Coupe steering wheel and front bumper, polished TC wheels, new drive train and rear, notched rear bumper with 3 1/2 inch rolled tips.Looks factory, and this week,I'll have my new (to me) Turbo Coupe two tone seats (blue on the ouside edges and back, grey in the middle.....front and rear seats). They will llok great,as my car has grey interior now,and deep metallic blue paint (patriot Blue Pearl...a Mopar color).
