Got an explorer intake and GT40 heads today for $50! Man I love the junkyard.

Spotted some more stuff out there im gunna go back and get on friday, 4 cylinder springs, the missing side moldings I need and I believe some 24lbs injectors in a truck. They had blue tops on them, so I imagine they are 24's.

Yeah I was pretty happy man, it rained yesterday so the junkyard was a swamp! After wading through the muck and finding 15 six cylinder explorers I finally found it. A 96' Explorer with the 5.0.

I expected to pop the hood and find it gutted, but this baby was unmolested 100%! So like any red blooded hotrodder I went to molesting!

As I was ripping the intake off a guy came up and the conversation went like this:
Him "Holy crap is that a 5 liter?"
Me "Yep"
Him "Damn man I have been out here every week looking for one!"
Me "Ha ha I must have got lucky"
Him "So your just taking the intake right?"
Me "Oh and leave the GT40's for you? Nah."
Him "Damn you must own a fox, well congrats dude"

I love winning! Ha ha.

It's always funny to go to a junkyard and see a Mustang that's been picked though. You can tell a Mustang enthusiast has already been through it when you see the prime parts already taken!

Last week i was in a yard when i came across a '95 V6. All the brake stuff was taken EXCEPT for the spindles. I was so tempted to just unbolt them and get them off.

I have to go back next week for a few peices...i bet they will be gone

Ha ha yep! I know that I will never find decent LX tails or clear headlights, and it pisses me off cause I keep finding cracked lx lenses. If people would just take them off the right way they wouldnt be ruined.

look for a mark 8 or lincon contential. they have 24 lbs in them that will work with our cars. the truck ones unless its a pickup with a 460 will not work.

there are so few running foxes around here that i can go down to the pick a-apart and find at least 40 foxes, and about the same number of sn95's and none of the good parts are ever taken, **** i probably could make decent money by buying the spindles off the cars for 75 a pair and selling them for 150 a pair

Nice one! You know the old cliches:

One man's junk is another man's jewel.
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
One man's garbage is another man's gold.

Great score, GTO Jimmy. Wow!

RedFoxGT said:
What Pick-A-Part do you go to? The one that I go to has a lot of foxes but the good parts are almost always gone by the time I get there. Part of the reason is that the people who work there actually take off the good/valuable parts before letting the customers take parts.

I see you're in L.A. That sounds like the Sun Valley yard (Pendleton/Glenoaks). In all my years of trekking up there the best score I've had is a pair of excellent condition front seats, which frankly I was excited as hell to find. lol Oh, and a cherry armrest.
