This guy with a 5.0 and me wanted to race, so we were sitting there with a couple of people asking where we could go. So finally said why dont you just go down 8 mile real fast. So thats what we headed out to do. Now 8 miles a pretty busy road at times and the speed limit on there is 45mph. Anyways we pull off the side street and no cars were coming for a decent amount of time so we stopped and counted to 3 and took off, just as we took off bam FLASHING LIGHTS!! We both had gotten pulled over. Needless to say I got a drag racing ticket, im just wondering whats gonna happen, im sure more the a few people on here have gotten one before. I had 0pts, do you know the fine ill be expecting, and the pts i will get? Im really just worried about my insurance.

p.s. I smoked the 5.0 at least.

4 points. Contact appropriate court to find out the amount of the fine (found at the bottom of the citation).

In Sacramento California they take your car if your street racing. They have a zero tolerance here thanks to all the rice cars.

He ended up getting a ticket for 80+ in a 45 zone and they threw out the racing charges. He ended up paying nothing and jsut going to work project for 3 weekends.

theres nothing to suck up, i know what i did and i know i deserve what i get. I was just asking if anyone else has gotten pulled over for the same reason, and if they knew what i should expect. I know im not the only peson on this website that messes with other cars on the city streets.

Yea, its 4 points on your license, which really isn't too bad considering you get 12. Technically, you can get caught a second time and still have a few points left over for speeding and such, if that makes you feel any better. My ex-gf was caught racing her T/A a couple of years back but I don't remember the fine.

As for insurance: Your insurance provider really should be cool since it's your first offense. If they raise your rates substantially, move on to another provider, I've had to do that (after a lot of speeding tickets). My personal experiences are that insurance companies in MI tend to get a little uncomfortable when you get over 6 points. FYI the points stay on your license for 2 years and on your insurance for 3 years. I'm not sure if you knew that. Good luck and yea that's a bummer! Glad you smoked the 5.0

Talk to a good lawyer. The $500 - 1000 you pay him will be cheaper than your fine and the cost of your insurance going up for 3 years.

Just got back from court today, and i figured i would just update this post a little. Fines are outragous for this couple second ordeal. I've learned its best to keep racing at the track.

For punishment I recived 500+ Fine
Probation for 1year. No Moving violations, arrests...
Driving class.

Its not worth it... Keep it at the track, or become a millionare..

Ouch..........Glad I got into Road Racing and out of Drag Racing. It forces you to go to the track and stops you from getting tickets.Good Luck with the probation.

worst comes to worse do what I do....I am in the army so I am always moving....just when my license stacks up in one state it is time to move so I get a new license in that state with 0 points. Go to your neighboring state and get a license from them and you will have a clean record....tell your new insurance company that you didn't like the service your old provider was showing you. Then all you have to do is pay the ticket....I'm not saying that you should street race or anything....my problem is just speeding...my 99 cobra doesn't like to go slow.....
