I'm a gokart mechanic with specialization in parts repair and fabrication LOL... but yeah, if you have education what in and how much? IMO education is not only the best thing you can do to make more money, but the best thing you can do to enrich yourself as a person.

I know a guy who drives boats (like oil tankers) and that's seems pretty badass

Don't kid yourself, that guy does not exist. He is actually a contractor with almost no benefits and is not even salary these days. Those days you are thinking of are over.

umm not really.

i have two buddies who graduated from ITT Tech last year, one making 55k and one at 65k. i ****ing hate them, they do absolutely nothing all day, post on our websites shoutbox (we run a forum that has a chat window basically in the main forum index) all day, and complain when they have to do actual work (ie crawl under desks and hook up computers and set up servers or routers, etc).

one works for a local outlet chain and one works for some medical radiology corporation. the one who makes 65k i think has a BA or whatever in computer sciences or networking and all the microsoft certs, and still goes to school at night to learn more. the other guy did his two years and wants to go on to a 4 year college but i think hes content doing what he does now seeing what he makes.

of course, i live in cali. we get paid more. though everything costs more, so its really all equal in the end.

I sell appliances at Sears, full commission, my paychecks randomly bounce between $300 - $2000 every 2 weeks. Stay out of this business if you have a lot of bills!

i used to be in computer/ computer electronics sales up until about 3 months ago... i worked at that store for over two years making about 13-14 per hour depending on comission... the job kept getting more and more anal, so for the last 3 months i have been in cell phone sales.. i like to keep my jobs for a long time and cell phones are nice, great change, but they are alot more strict on quotas... i am making about 14-16 now, but hopefully soon i will start hitting my bonus goals and i will be making 19ish... i am very close though to getting their...
it sucks because i am goign to school full time and work about 28 hours per week, otherwise i would totally become a manager at the kiosk and then easily bring in about 50-60k a year... the job is nice, but if i could find something higher paying, less commission oriented i would totally go for it... i like to work hard, but with sales, sometimes hard isnt hard enough....
