i'm in the process of building a 347. does anyone know where i can pick up a zero balanced flex plate for my 87 gt? one guy mentioned something bout going with an earlier year thats got a lighter weight and same bolt pattern. said he could balance that out. couldn't do that with the plate i got now cause even after removing the weight, it would be virutally impossible to balance because of the hole patterns are weird. Anyone got any ideas?

they are readily available, you just gotta look around a little bit. check ANY of the big engine builders, DSS, Keith Craft, etc.

thanx for the replies! flexplate is what i need. i'll start from the beginning and try to keep and short. bought this kit off ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2476142831&fromMakeTrack=true

took my block and this kit to the speed shop to a guy i know. until recently i thought he was pretty good. i agreed to let him order me a flexplate and balancer and then to send it down to his machine guy to get the block bored and have it all balanced. when i picked it up today he handed me the flexplate he ordered and said the weight will have to be taken off and its good to go. didn't seem right to me so i snuck down to his machine guy and talked with him bout it. said it would be virtually impossible to balance it right. i think it had something to do with the hole patterns. suggested i might go with a lighter earlier model with the same bolt pattern, then he could balance it to where it would work. i wished i'd been informed of all this before all the balance work was done! i hope described this correctly. my idiot guy said he couldn't find a zero balanced flexplate thats SFI. gotta figure somebody makes them. i'll try DDS and Keith Craft. i'd much appreciate any more info you guys could throw at me. this forum rocks!

Ok Keith Craft wants $250 for a zero balanced flexplate. Having trouble finding DSS website. Went to the shop today to look at lighter earlier model flexplate like my machine guy suggested. Bolt patterns didn't match. Back to square one. I need a zero balanced sfi approved plate. Running a c6 tranny with my 302. Should be 157 teeth as I understand it. Anyone got some ideas?
