A machinist edge works well for 'sighting' the alignment. You might be able to get creative with some washers at the mounting bolts in order to get the pump housing moved so the pulley aligns.

Good luck.

I'd try what hissing said or shave down the spacer at the back of the PS pump.

Now that I look a little closer the PS pump looks cocked, not so much being out of line.

check to see if it's hitting anything keeping it from sitting flush

I agree, it will also give you a chance to really inspect how well the p/s bracket is seated against the head.

It does look to be slightly crooked in the pic.

i got the p/s lined up better but the belt has worn a rib completly off and i noticed that my p/s pulley looks like it wobbles when spinning. i was told by one person that once you have a belt spin off it will never stay on right. and i had another guy tell me to put a spacer behind the water pump to bring it out because thats where it is wearing the belt... someone help me!

PS pulley hubs have a tendency to mushroom. I'd get a new pulley in any case - yours sounds to be in bad shape.

Good luck.

Trip to the j/y would be the quickest.
Ford will probably have it, but it will take 2 weeks

Don't limit your search to Mustangs. There are many cars in the same generation that used the same pump / pulley. All engine sizes are potential donors.

I have seen many pumps out there with different size pulleys as well.
Try to stay close to the stock size, as I am not sure how pump life (which is already strained) would be affected by a change in pulley diameter.

If Jason's idea does work out:

A member on here some years back noted that Napa used to sell the pulley for about 20 bucks. I never checked myself.

I'm sure resto houses sell them too.

Good luck.
