I Need Help Identifying Lowering Height(pics Embeded)

im about to start working on the my 89 and the first thing i want to change is the height. i came across this car that has a good looking stance. can anyone tell me how much it appears to be lowered and what springs to get? thanks

That's a 2 plus... Cant help you with the brand, I got BBK progressive and I think mine dropped 1.5 , I also replaced the spring rubber(forgot the name tech name) I go a pic but its a bad cellphone one from last year.

Without looking at the car, no idea what sort of parts got it to that height.

That car is not just lowered, it's slammed in my opinion. It's impossible to tell what springs are on it, it could be cut coils, replacement coils or even coil overs. You will need at least a 2" drop to achieve stance like that and don't plan on it riding that nice afterwards!

Here's a couple spring option pics for your reference.
FRPP "B" springs are reasonably priced springs and look nice on a fox. Here's a pic of my old '87 vert with B springs and otherwise stock suspension.
I thought it sat real nice. "I miss that car"

My red '88 sits on Saleen Racecraft springs with a half coil remove from the front springs.
Very similar to the B springs.

Low profile tires in the fender wells is slammed in my opinion. That's easily 2+ inch drop. Hopefully it's not cut springs to get that look.

i just looked up the frpp b springs and it says , 1979-1993 Estimated Drop: Front 7/8"; Rear 1/2"... its looks alot lower than that. do you know of any other springs on the market that have close to a 2 inch drop?

Just use the eibach pro lowering kit, it's a good middle of the road setup. Looks good, handles pretty well, it's low enough but not too low.

I have a set set of saleen springs that i used to run, if you cut a coil off the front of them my car would have literally sat on the ground. Would never recommend cutting of those springs, especially if they are progressive.

Any spring that has to be cut is the wrong spring to use. I know, i have cut enough of them to know it's a dumb idea. Usually ended with either the spring ruined, my car too low or too high and my shirt with burn holes in it from the cutting wheel.

I like the raked look. Mine is 1.5 drop in the front. Stock height in the back.

I agree, the Eibach Pro-kit is a nice middle of the road drop. I ran those on a 89 hatch I once owned. Nice noticeable drop with good ride quality.
However, there was nothing dumb about cutting my springs. These were the right springs for me because they were used and FREE!
I had been hoarding them for years and decided to install them on the vert. Later I decided I wanted it a tad lower with a slight rake up front so I decided to take a gamble and cut them. No harm done, if it didn't work out I put them back in a box in the basement. "Lesson learned"
Well It worked out perfect, now sits the way I want it, and rides absolutely great!

I like it so I guess I'm a dumb person with the wrong springs.

Who knew

Not all springs can simply be cut, you have to be 100% sure they are linear (like many drag springs). Because if you cut a progressive spring you are cutting off a coil that has a different rate than the rest of the spring.
There is many different ways of getting the ride height you want, i really no longer see cutting a spring as the way to go.
I can also see sacrificing ride quality for looks, but certainly not handling.

It's possible in 88 the saleen springs were specific (saleen did have specific kit), but kits like the eibach pro kit are progressive.

I do: Coilovers in front, plus coilovers or height-adjustable LCA's in back. Done.

do you have any other pictures of the orange car? if i can get my car lowered like that i would be satisfied. still wondering why it says 7/8 - 1/2" though

I sold that car 3 years ago so I'm pics limited. LOL
Here's a couple more pics.

7/8" means drop in the front and a 1/2 in the rear. I think that is a ballpark figure because springs act so differently on different cars. However, I had these same B springs on my red vert for Years and decided to remove and use them on the orange car when I restored it. Both my verts sat nearly the same.
Here's an oooold pic from 2004 of my red vert using the same B springs and wheels that I later transferred to the orange vert.

Coil overs are the only way you will get slammed like that. You might get close with Eibach sport lines. When you go that low, Don't forget to order your C/C plates, off set steering rack bushings, bumpsteer kit and, possibly ball joints. Might has well put new control arm bushings in while you have it torn apart.

Definitly not much lower than that. How much lower do you want to go? These cars aren't designed to go as low as you want. SRA prevents "civic style" lowering
