There are 3 key factors in selling a car:

Price, Paint and Price.

it's a rough market for V8 performance cars currently because of the high fuel prices. If you want it to sell quickly your best bet would be to drop the price. You can't expect the "upgrades" to help it sell, most people just don't care and the ones who do usually don't have any $$$ because they are busy modifying the car they allready have.

yeah the mods won't help you at all price and selling wise... they could even deter some people from buying

autotrader actually gets you a lot of exposure out there... we just sold my cuz's car for asking price

Agreed. Remember, any mods you do personalize the car to the way you like it. I see plenty of cars that have mods where I just shake my head. It just means that they did something I would not have done. So mods can deter people that way.

Also, depending on your age, that can make a big difference. If you are in your mid to late thirties, live in a nice neighborhood, this car and you others are all well taken care of, I wouldn't be turned off by mods, if the car still looked tasteful. On the other hand, if someone was in their late teens, early twenties, with a modded V8 mustang, odds are it has been beat to some degree, and I would have no interest in it what so ever. (I am just making a point here, and in no way saying this is your situation as I personally do not know you or your car.)

dont listen to these guys, my cousin buys and sells collector cars all day long he makes at least 5,000 on each one, he even sells newer cars, always ask for more than what you want for the car, since you want 12,000 ask 14,500 you can always go down in price if someone comes and looks at the car for 14,500 they will think its a steal if they can get u down to 13,000 it takes the right person and if you have to wait 6 months so be it. dont listen to these amateurs

The list of stuff all looks like good basic mods, nothing "tacky". The pics are really hard to tell, if you end up going the AutoTrader route, make sure to get good pics. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I am assuming the car is red, but the second pic makes is look orange. If it is orange, that may be one issue. Very hard color to sell.

The first pic makes it look pretty low. That can turn off a lot of people as well. There is a big difference between, slightly lowered for performance, and "teenager" low. From the list of mods though, I am assuming it is more of a "performance low" and again just a bad pic.

I also just looked it up at NADA, and assumed it was a stick and had leather. They say it should sell on average at about $12,800, with a trade in value of $10,700. Remember, to most your mods don't mean much unless you can find an enthusiast. If I was writing the ad, I would definitely use phases like: "adult owned", "original owner", "meticulously maintained", "must see to believe", and I would not hype the mods too much.

Just my .02

the color is performance red, its red with an orange tint. its the same color as the 00 Cobra R.

this is just crazy... the catback brakes, springs ball joints, bumpsteer all have less then 300 miles on them since they were installed. the tires have 80-90% tread left ect.. if i had a set of stock wheels and tires and the other crap i took off id just strip it and sell the car for 10k and pocket 3-4k for the crap i took off the car. I need some nice days.. all i need is to get the car clean and out where people can see if for a week and it will sell its self.. people love the way this car looks i get people who hate mustangs telling me my car sounds and looks awsome. problem is it hasnt been nice enough out since i decided to sell the car to wash it.

wow, since your cousin is a "pro" that must make you gods gift to selling cars

Although I do agree with your advice for the most part, the problem is he's getting impatient allready, hence this thread even existing.

You have to take the emotion out of it though, the MARKET is what determines the price of anything, not the seller.

And NADA says my Cobra should sell for $27900. I paid less than $24k, and that was six months ago and it only had 3000 miles...

Unfortunately, a pre-05 Mustang right now is not fetching much. A year ago, I saw '99 GT's going for under $10k sometimes.

Remember, to most your mods don't mean much unless you can find an enthusiast. If I was writing the ad, I would definitely use phases like: "adult owned", "original owner", "meticulously maintained", "must see to believe", and I would not hype the mods too much.

I would even think about removing the mods altogether. They won't do squat for the price except lower it, 99% of the time.

In any case, good luck on selling your car, hopefully the right person will come along and snap it up.

like i said before dont listen to these amateurs, they dont know what they are talking about, put it in the local paper and the autotrader, someone will buy it for the price you want, it just takes a little time.
