I have a set of stud mount scorpion 1.6 roller rockers on my heads. I just put the heads and rockers on and drove around on them for a couple of days. I had a little bit of valvetrain noise so I went back in and I adjusted the rockers again. The first time after I installed the rockers I only went a quarter turn after the pushrod stopped spinning. This time I went a half turn. When I fired the car up this time the noise had gotten worse. Some of the lifters were still pumped up when I readjusted the rockers. I wasn't sure if that made a difference or If I might have some othere problem. The first time I installed the rockers none of the lifters were pumped up. Maybe someone can tell me where I am going wrong.

A quarter of a turn after the pushrod stopped spinning? You went way too tight. You only want to do about 1/2 of a turn after you first feel resistance to spinning. Not a half of a turn after it has stopped spinning.

The first time I did it I went a 1/4 turn and I still had rocker noise. The specs on it called for a 1/4 to 1/2. If it is to tight why would I still hear a rocker slapping the push rod

I'm just going by how I've done my car. Tighten the nut until you first feel resistance, then go another 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. Worked best for me....

did you use stock length push rods. I have talked to a few people and they all said that was what to use.

How much noise are you talking about? It's normal to get a bit more noise from a roller rocker setup than from the stock one. You're pretty sure you are adjusting the preload correctly? The lifters don't need to be pumped up (as in with oil), the spring inside is more than sufficient. You just tighten the adjusting nut down until the pushrod offers a bit of resistance to being turned (you can still turn it of course). That would be zero lash, and the point at which the rocker no longer has any up-down play on the valve stem or pushrod. Then give it 1/2 a turn and set the lock. Assuming that's how you're doing it, you should have them adjusted correctly. Make absolutely sure you're on the base circle of the cam when adjusting each rocker.

Personally, I run 6.300 pushrods, because that gave me my best geometry. But the stock length pushrods were functional as well.

That's with unmilled AFR #1402's, stock deck height, and Fel-pro 1011-2's, right?

Yep. Hope I don't need a different length when I swap out the rockers...

From what I can tell, one of them is about to give up. It's the story of my life sometimes.

as the rpms rise you can really start hearing it more. when it is at idle it is not much louder than a small exhaust leak. i have them adjusted just like you said. the only other thing i can think of is maybe they are hitting on the valve cover, but i cant see any spots where they would be hitting. I used fox body covers and grinded them.
