alright before any of you guys tell me to go to turbomustangs.com, or to use the search button, i spent about 3 hrs last nite, and about 2 hrs today researching DIY turbo setups...i talked to my dad last nite, and he thinks it would be a really fun project for us to work on, and we could do the whole thing for about $1500....

heres what i want to know.....what is the path of exhaust, and the path of intake....im going to use these pics from oink as reference....i understand the path of exhaust as i think i've made clear in these photoshops ive done....
View attachment 494989
View attachment 494990

what i don't get is once the exhaust goes through the flange on the turbo, the inpeller spins the gasses around and shoots them down the downpipe....but where does the intake come into place??? does it come outta the front of the turbo and go into the MAF and eventually the tb inlet?? like the pic below??
View attachment 494991

im sorry for all the questions but i've been trying to figure this out on my own, and its not really workin out too well....i figured a few of you guys could point me in the right direction....also if any of you have any pics showing your setup totally complete that shows everything pipe wise that'd be amazing....

exhaust path- hot side. both headers connect together via the crossover pipe

downpipe- your correct.

from the pic you posted of oinks setups, he only has half of the turbo there. the turbine. the other half missing is the compressor. the turbine spins the compressor to draw in the air and shoots it out (like the turbine shoots out the exhaust out throught the downpipe) to the intake.

thats the simple way of explaining it without getting too much into detail.

go to:

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo4.htm

use the search next time!!!!!! LOL just kidding (look at my old post)

yea i hear ya. turbomustangs.com is totally acting up. the forum is always down, broken links, pics dont work.

best think to do is go to turbomustangs main site. not the forum (click on the logo) and look at the featured rides and the multimedia turbo images.

i have been saving lots of pics so far from all over for my setup this summer.

what are your plans so far (how are you running it, which parts)?

honestly...i have no money! in fact im still in ****ing debt from my accident back last april i worked my ass off all summer 40 hrs a week last summer, and have been working 3 hrs a day every day after school to pay off the repairs and the insurance for the year....i have about 200 left on the repairs and 800 on the insurance so by april ill be paid off....i havent bought a single thing for my car in over a year, and its gettin discouraging...my parents are hopefully gonna come thru for xmas and get me the jegs seats i wanted cause mine look like ****, and the g-parents are hopefully gettin me some springs and c/c plates.....april, im painting the car, and hopefully if i can make enuff money this summer, im gonna start this project....i wanna build a single turbo pass side mount, about 8 psi or so...i want about 350-375 hp outta the deal hopefully enough for mid-low 12's with good driving i have to do some more research on turbo sizes before i make any decisions.....any thoughts on that??

oh you lucky bastard. i so want to get those seats. those leather recaro looking ones right?

theres alot of good info on turbomustangs.com. surf around and try to find what people are using.

my plans are to use a MP T70 with a .81 A/R. these turbos used to be gotten for cheap but the price has gone up because of there high demand. i'm gonna run my mac unequals flipped and modded just like Oink did. turbo will be mounted on the passenger side with an intercooler mounted in front of the a/c condensor behind the bumper with inlets and outlets both on the passenger side. but i might end up flipping the upper intake and have the cold side come up on the drivers side. havent decide yet.

well your one step up from me. you have no a/c. half of my problems is finding out what to do without burning up my a/c lines or having to relocate them.

keep us posted on how things go and such.

yes i want the black recaro lookin seats....to go along with your a/c problem, just check out what oink rigged up in the pics above....i was reading on one of blackvert's posts that i found, that oink charged $70 and you send him your shorties, and he'll make those headers for ya to go under the a/c pump....

I've been doing quite a bit of research on DIY turbos too, and I think I pretty much understand em right now. Here is a good pic I found on turbomustangs.com that shows how everything is layed out with an IC.

ALSO, If your using a blow through MAF, it can go after the turbo. Just some added info.

Your diagram on the top... Exhaust would be going through the wastegate as well, bypassing the turbo and dumping into the down pipe.
