Well, I just put in my off road mac h-pipe. it's pretty nice, the engine feels a little more free. The air pump tube doesn't reach the tube on the hpipe so I just plugged it up w/ some duct tape as a temporay solution. Is there really a point in connecting it to the air pump now that there aren't any cats? It sounds pretty good at idle, but I'm pretty disappointed in the muffs.

you might need the air tube to pass emissions if you have them in your state. I thought that emissions were tough in CA... Are you just going to be swaping out your stock h pipe with your new one?

my air injection tube didn't fit either. I went to the auto store and got sime heater hose for a few cents and two hose clamps. 2 months and 2k miles without a problems so far.

Some have used silicon hose due to having a higher usable heat range but i haven't had a problem yet. and I have Cats too so I needed the air injection and there will also be a lot more heat there than in your application.

Use a piece of rubber red hose to connect the pipe or you'll have an exhaust leak sound.

My x-pipe came with some high temp hose. It came loose one day as you can see here. The hissing sound it made was realy annoying.

Throw away the smog pump....

Did you get new 02 Sensors or just transfer them?

Yeah, I'll be putting in the stock h-pipe w/ cats every two years to pass smog. It was a pain in the ass to take that thing off and get those header bolts off-I had to go buy a 12" socket extension to do it, but I think that it won't be so bad next time now that I know how to do it. I bought the h-pipe used off of ebay for $70 shipped, but the guy left both of his O2 sensors on it, so I'm using those...aren't those expensive? I think that I'll just get some silicon tubing and hook up the the air pump tube to the h-pipe. I bought my cat-back off of ebay and they say it's a summit racing brand. they are weird because at idle they are awesome, but at WOT they sound like $hit and it sounds like they are just pushing air making a "woooosh" sound instead of the throaty burble sound that I'm looking for. And I'm not too happy with the tailpipes (they are painted a nasty black w/ lots of paint scratches) so I'm thinking that I might just want to put in turn-downs at the muffs but I'm kinda worried about getting smoked out by carbon monoxide in traffic.

I'm pretty happy w/ that O/R h-pipe, but when I called my dad and told him about it, he gave me a 30 min speech on moral, social, and legal responsibility. But, I guess I have to pick and choose my illegal activities, right?

Came with the O2s? Damn.... that's $100 right there if they are new. So a good deal indeed.

I put dumps on mine, and I was worried about the smell. But I rarely notice it, and when I do, it really doesn't bother me. As you can see in my sig, I have the mac o/r h-pipe and some super 40's with dumps, it sounds so wicked now. It is REAL deep. It sounds so cammed out at idle and it's pretty loud. But it's REAL loud when you romp on it or rev it, like setting off car alarms loud. But when you're cruising at a constant speed, it's pretty quiet, quieter than when I had tailpipes, I love it.

Are dumps the same things as turn-downs?

Its a good idea to use anti-sieze on header bolts and o2 sensors.

Uhh........ But a person CAN smell exhaust, I think that's what everyone here was referring to, at least I was.

You can't smell carbon monoxide, but you can feel the effects of it after a lot of exposure--, light headed, headache, dizzyness, etc. Basically, carbon monoxide inhibits the ability for your blood to carry O2 so your brain is being starved of oxygen, which is a bad thing. You can smell exhaust though, and when you do, you are usually breathing in carbon monoxide along w/ all of the other exhaust gases.

I have had this setup on my stock H and off road H for about 4 years, no problems with leaks on that end.

i have shorty headers/off road H/ flowmaster 40's/dumps. I love the sound but the drone is almost unbearable from the dumps. It rattles every peice of plastic in my car and i hate it. But it is a lot cheaper than a cat-back. I put them on becuase i got frustrated trying to line up my tailpipes because my h-pipe was 2 inches short on one side(I got the JEGS Hpipe, bad decision)

Weird, I have the same setup. Stock headers, o/r h-pipe, and super 40's dumped. I have NO drone at all except for at around 1000, but who is ever at that rpm anyway? I actually had more drone with the tailpipes on than without them, and it was always around 2000. With dumps, it's quieter while just cruising, but when you get on it, I hope you're wearing ear plugs.
