I really can't stand the magazines anymore!

Why does college cost so much? Knowledge is not free. It is more expensive because it is twice the size and has about 50% more tech articles in it. Do you think all the time they spent doing the "Ultimate Cylinder Head Test" comes without a price. If you pay any attention at all you can see that about 150% more effort goes into that magazine than any other produced. That magazine is packed full of useful knowledge and wonderful photography not just picks and re-runs. I have a better idea cancel them all and get all your info from forums see how much truth that holds for yeah! Its places like Stangnet and people like the staff at MM&FF that make this hobby a little more achievable for the average cat.

Why not just send them an e-mail?

I've been working on Mustangs since you were in preschool. Please drop the attitude.

I have a valid question. MMFF and 5.0 are very comparable in size and content. Why does MMFF want $34.97 a year when 5.0 goes for $12.00? I fail to see the value there. For the price of a year of MMFF I can get a year of 5.0 and a year of Modified Mustangs.

As far as your points go, "wonderful photography"? This is a subject I know a little bit about and, while their photography is decent, wonderful it ain't. Modified is markedly better in both the quality and the layout and, if you want wonderful photography, pick up a copy of Hemmings Muscle Machines and find out what wonderful photography is all about.

Do you think that they are charged for the parts or the installation? It's free advertising for all of the vendors involved. As I said before, that's why you will never hear "The new Edelbrock cylinder head sucks", even if it does. That's why the shop doing the work is prominently mentioned in every article. They're doing it for the exposure.

Again, as I mentioned before, I let my subscription to MMFF lapse because they don't feature enough cars I'm interested in to pay $35 a year. 5.0 is probably going to be in the same boat when my renewal comes up this October, though the price is still very reasonable. Right now, Modified is the only one that I look forward to each month, along with Hemmings Muscle Machines.

Thats all I am going to say. I can't see myself worrying about $40 a year. Not only that but you can get subscriptions cheaper than that. Last time I paid about $10/year each.

Oh well, I don;t have the time to go to the store and browse the magazines each month, to decide if I want to buy it merely out of spite. I am glad to get them, whether it's a V6 issue, or one chock full of fox's.

Last time I checked most guys who go to strip clubs (guys who enjoy that) spend a lot more than $40, and the girls there are usually ehh anyway! I just can't see saving my $40 a year because some of the magazines might feature more S197s than fox's. Maybe I should be more stingy with my money, but to me, that $40 doesn't seem like a bank breaker?

Our subs are $25, not $34. And in reference to the disparity between the two mags, as someone just told me, there's always cheap seats to a bad show. The one thing that most don't know is that our subscription services are handled by an outside company, so most of the time we don't know what's going on with that end of the business. That may change though as our new owners are in the distribution business.

"Comparable content" is a subjective statement. I don't believe that the competition's content is on the same level, but that's subjective too. Looking at the Feb issues of both, we had one more tech story and one more event coverage, which accounted in part for 48 more edit pages (about 25 percent) than the competition. That generally means that our stories are longer, and generally more in depth. Content will vary from month to month depending on the ad schedules, but the add to edit ratio is generally the same for all three mags. We regularly outsell the other two competitors on the newsstand also.

Sure i'm biased. But I was a devout MM&FF reader long before i got hired. I like great tech stories and you'll always find more of those in our mag than anywhere else. I even used two of our early stories to change my first set of head gaskets and my first heater core/evaporator. I'm regularly under a car or in an engine compartment, and show up at our office with grease beneath my fingernail quite often, much like many of our readers. As for the art and photography, it's not an exact science. You will from time to time see great shoots in all magazines. Modified currently has the benefit of better paper quality than the other two Mustang mags which accounts for the pictures popping a little better, but we're working towards some sort of equality with regard to that.

They did bring to the readers attention the cylinder head manufactures that had a weak/heavy valvetrain and how they experienced float with it before redline. They brought that to everyones attention so they didn't fall victim to it. And if you have all the mags you'll know that about every one uses WesTech and Steve Bruele to dyno their combos clean down to HotRod magazine. And a combo is much easier to dyno with a carb intake and carb so read the numbers and subtract 10 to 15 for EFI. And they did do an article on an E/L 347 and dyno'd it.

My shops built more cars and motors in the last 2 years than most have in lifetimes so I doubt my age is a factor in experience here this is what I do!!!!!!!! I am not to here to start a pissin match just don't read that particular mag and you won't have to worry about paying $25 bucks for it. End of story. 88-378 I feel you but it is a supreme PITA to swap EFI parts and hook up computers to test that way thats why you dont see it alot, all of that stuff is under a strict deadline and thats the quickest way to get it done and get the numbers posted. (Mansonozz congrats your livin the dream brother !!!!!!!!)

MM&FF has been the mustang bible for ever, I don't think they will ever let that go away. If I had a choice as to which magazine was going to put my car on the cover I'm glad it was MM&FF, it was truely an honor, and I thank Micheal,Evan, and Frank for the opportunity and the great reading every month. I subscribe to all of them and I mean all, I want to know what is happening out there be it foxes or others, and as long as they are stangs I'll keep on subscribing.

That's the way I feel

Richard Holdener and David Vizard occasionally write carb'd stories for us, and we're looking at doing a few more ourselves, as we see a lot of readers at the events using carbs. EFI will always be our mainstay, though.

As for an EFI 400hp stroker story, the buildup on my Cobra's Boss 347 pretty much covered that. You can check the stories on our site if you missed it. It made 358hp/376tq at the wheels, which depending on how you estimate the drivetrain loss, is about 400 at the crank. No it doesn't have cats, and the cam is healthy, but i wouldn't doubt it passes emissions once the cats were on. Plus you could drive it every day.
