I know you guys are prolly sick and tired of hearing about pinging, i know i am. If you remember my last post about this, i've been driving the car for three weeks with the blower and the JMS chip installed with NO pinging problems whatsoever. Not even the slightest knock. Out of no where on the highway it just started detonating non-stop. No matter what type of acceleration i give it, it will ping non-stop. I pulled the plugs and did a compression test. The plugs were competely black w/carbon. I did a comp. test and was very amazed to find every cylinder was up around 170psi. Which i know is way high for some reason. I figured the cc's are just caked with carbon. I did the seafoam ****, lots and lots of smoke later, still the same symptoms. I'm really not sure where to go next. Could you guys please help me out. Thanks so much.

I am by no means a expert, however I had a simular prob with a 502 big blocl, have you checked the base timing? also, though rare, its not impossible for the timing chain to have jumped or maybe the dist is dying? try taking out the chip? any oil consumption, oil in combustion chamber will cause detonation. just guessing here, good luck.

Well, the only oil i've noticed where it shouldn't be is in my t'body and upper intake. Not alot of it but enough to created a small puddle in my tb. I've had that prob. since i've owned the car when it was stock though. I am going to remove the chip to see if that's the prob. How do i check if my dist. is dying or my timing chain jumped? Do i have to pull off the cover an phys. look at the chain? I know the base timing is def. 10* BTDC. Thanks for the sugg. i'm gonna check into all of that. Keep em' coming if you can.

MAF is brand new, the wires are clean. My fuel pressure is 39 psi w/vac off. I got one code before the pinging was happening. I forget which code exactly, but it stated a rich condition.

Base timing is 10* btdc, the chip controls the rest. Total timing is 20*.
