I know that some of you do not visit the Copacobanna so I will post my thread in here too. I know the mechanics at work really well and we have talked and talked and well they put me in the drivers seat of a unique ride.
1/4 (UPS RUNWAY) 12.66 at 111.25 mph

Engine: Mustang 5.0 H.O.
Rear: Solid 9 inch w/Trac Loc
Trans: TKO T-5
Brakes: 4 Wheel Disc w/ Line Lock
Asp: Natural
C/W: 3000lbs

I did not build the engine so I am still asking questions on what is inside it. I am 1 of 4 canidates (was 10) to drive it in the local circut (more show than anything). UPS plans to use this as a marketing tool to get the Racer crowd to work for us. The engine build is tightly guarded, I know some of it but since I am a canidate for the driver I cant reveal much. you can see the times above so this is not stock. The truck is all sheet metal, Suspension is a Mustang, Drive Train is Mustang, Frame is a 04 Ranger (well it began as one) and the rest is all there for show. Now that the snow is leaving wish me luck (luck is needed on the stage 1 weight reduction I need LOL) I will be playing with my Stang some here and there but I have a 84 5.0 H.O. GT that I am practicing with in the meantime. Enjoy the pictures!

"yeah, So I stage up and look over and there's an UPS truck beside me with a faster dial-in" ????

I hope everything works out and you at least get to make some passes.
Now:
Does it hook hard?
How do you think jason(the guy with the orange hatch) would handle getting pulled 10 cars by the UPS truck?
Why was a small block used?
--Not that its bad, cause ANY 12sec N/A SBF is rockin to me especially this one.

Was there any thought given to a planetary gear manual trans? Example Lenco

THAT THING ROCKS!!

I am willing to think that anyone sitting in the opposite lane will be laughing thinking that they are going to ge a free pass on this truck until that tree see's green and they see a brown blur.

The Small block and Trans were chosen because Ford is across the street and the origional concept for this truck was to go to truck shows and low rider comps. Well some of us that work there seem to think that a Mustang DON'T belong there even though it looks like a Truck.

Jason, Well he would no longer be on your tail if he tried to run against this, I think that he would just cry and run home like a sissy. You know like he did when you beat him.

Hard, Aggressive, Mean, Nasty, Throaty, Testosterone seeps from the exhaust, this machine will have the locals thinking twice about running in the N/A class.

I work for UPS and they did this like 3 years ago. I have that exact same photo and it's near 3 years old now.
Also, why is the new logo on the one in one photo, and the old logo on the other ones?

Pic 1,2,3 are from november of 04, 4-9 were previous Sorry I did not date the pictures.

Plus I work at night so if I was driving the truck in the pics it would be in the DARK not in the light. I never said that the truck is freshly built in fact I have stated that I was not part of the building proccess and I am still asking about the truck myself.

I probably wont even be the guy that gets to drive it in the future, but I made it to the last 4, the next cut comes in a week where the drivers will be narrowed down to 2.

The new logo went on this year when the rest of the company changed to UPS instead of United Parcel Service. This truck making a transition from show to go is still being decided by the company so it may never make it to the track for competition at all.

I will go back and edit the photos to show the difference.

The "older" pictures were given to me by one of the mechanics that keeps the truck in good repair

So far it has been aptitude testing and knowlege for inline racing, come of the competitors did not know the staging lines or what the tree was. Next week it is going to be 3 runs in a 93 Cobra per person, best 2 men wins (no women in the final 4 people). This is the second time that we have done this type of elimiation to narrow the field. They have also been hammering on weight so that may kill me before the test runs. I am 20 more than the rest of the guys, I have been trying to say that the end run matters more than how much the driver weighs but I seem to be the only guy that mentions this

That part sounds like fun either way. If you have never driven that car do what I do and sneak in 3-4 test launches on the way up staging after the burnout box.
Trust me you can you drive and make up the 20 pounds.

Heyyy I'm set to go then.

Here's a quick list of weight loss tips:
no underwear or socks
wear slippers or light shoes and take the laces out
if you wear glasses get contacts
if you have contacts just put one in
superlight weight....walmart T-shirt
pajama pants cut off at the knees are light
shave/plus haircut
pee twice before every run(I naturally had to do this after my car got faster )

If all this fails start with your left hand pinky finger and work towards the inside.
