I was reading the new MM (the only rag that acknoledges the II) and

when I read that Randy's ring and Pinion makes a limited slip unit for the 8", I got a warm feeling


later in the book I was looking at the Heidt's add and they sell II motor mounts, for $75 A PAIR with replacement pads for $45r a pair, I wept

I paid 110.00 each and they were in the ford dealers around here.

any part numbers in that ad for the mounts. they only have chevy mounts on the website and i don't see them in the catalog i have.

nope all i can say is that it is on page 41 of the jan 05 Mustang and fords (thought it was MM)

Audburn Gear makes a Limited Slip for the 8" and has for several years. Not a cheap unit though. Detroit Locker makes a locker unit for it too. Though the best choice for the rear gear challenged is Lock Rights mini locker that replaces the spider gears and doesn't warrant removal of the ring and pinion at all.
I'd be interested in seeing that M&F ad too!

how about the detroit ez locker? sounds similar to the power trax unit and randys has it for just over 200 bucks. anybody have any feed back on it?

bad news.

just talked with the guys at heidts. the mounts are not for stock-replacement. they are a tubular style to put a chevy engine into thier style 1 mustang II rails.

I talked with 2 gentlemen there. the first guy didn't really know what i was talking about and the second guy said the don't have stock replacements.

man i wish they did, it would be a could time to put them in since tranny and headers are out of the car right now.

i will try them again on monday and see if i get a different answer.

hey sleeper, can you get a scan of that page with the heidts ad? i have not been able to find mustang and fords in this area. i want to try to call them again this week or the beginning of next.
