Ok I pm'd daggar to see if this thread was legal but he hasnt gotten back to me yet so im gonna just post and hope that he doesnt give me an infraction.

I have a car for sale on ebay, I think I have a buyer. but the guy has zero feedback and has only had an ebay account for a month or so. The guy lives in the united kingdom and is on a trip to germany. He emails me and says he is interested in buying my car and he can send a cashiers check for the full amount including freight. But he wants me to western union the money to the freight company for him. And after emailing him and told him that I might be able to do that but I would feel alot more comfortable if he did it himself. He emailed me a second time confirming his intentions to have me send the shipping money and without even buying the car yet on ebay he wants my address and phone # so he can send the money. At first I thought that this all must be bogus. but after thinking about it for a moment I thought that maybe foxbody's were rare cars in the UK. If He's a collector I can see where he would want an american muscle car. But the cost of the frieght to the united kingdom would cost more than the car was worth. Should I trust this guy?

I'd be kind of sketchy of him. I had a buddy who had a possible buyer for his pickup and the guy was supposedly from pittsburg or something. He found out later that he was from the UK. But anyways the guy sent him a cashiers check, for like 1000 more, to send him back the difference for the shipping. My buddy found another car, so he put the money towards that and he ended up havig the check bounce after a week or so and he ended up in a real bad place. I've heard lots of stories about people in other countries trying to buy things and I'd be real careful. Stick with the good ole US of A, just my opinion.

He will send it over, you will cash it send him all the stuff and when its in transit the check will not clear and you will be out your stuff plus the cash. Its a really old scam Im suprised you havent seen it.

Here is some jerk off trying to do it to me over some heads, except to see if he was real at all I told him no cashiers check or money order.

scam... he will send you a forged casheirs check and then when the bank finds out it's a fraud your stuck paying for it. thats how this scam works, don't EVER fall for anything where they want you to cash something and then send the money someplace else..

All the scammer cares about is the money that you send after cashing the forged check they probally won't even bother with the car.

scams

i had bid on e bay on a foxbody and when the reserve was not met and the auction ended i received an e-mail supposedly from ebay. the e-mail said that the buyer agreed to my bid on a second chance offer. i knew it was bs because there was no way i would get this said car for my 3000 opening bid.the car was worth alot more than that and again supposedly he was in england on business or what ever.i reported it to ebay scam department immediately so that no one would get scammed.they responded that he was not a member of ebay and that they work going to go after him.becareful like its always been said if its too good to be true then it probably is.

Ask your bank about a wire transfer. It is a bank to bank transaction that is fraud proof: the bank is responsible for verifying funds and transaction activity. If anything goes wrong, it is their problem, not yours. You set up an escrow account with your local bank, send the bank routing number and account number to the buyer. Then have him wire transfer the funds into the account. Once your bank has verified that the funds are in the escrow account, you transfer them to your account. Finally, you close the escrow account to prevent further activity on it.

I stopped reading right there. I personally wouldn't deal with selling it on ebay, yet alone to a new member, YET ALONE to someone in europe, EVEN if its a real person.

Yep, just a variation on the old Nigerian Scandal.

They send you a Money Order for huge amount, usually more than you are asking, then want you to hand a portion of the money over to some "US business partner" the have, or in the case the "freight company" then the bank finds out 2 weeks later that the money order was fake and you are liable for the cash that you already gave away, and you also just handed them your car.
