All that is in the plans my friend. As soon as I get the minor body work sorted out I'll begin looking for a lightning motor, install it then either a blower or turbo.

Is the lightning block the same as any other 351 roller made between 95-97? I got my block from a f series truck.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I know the block in the early Lightning is machined for roller lifters, but actaully comes with flat tappets.

These 99 ups don't have changeable motor mounts like our beloved 94/95's do. So I'm forced to buy a 60.00 crossmember from Ford.

Awesome it turned out to be a simple fix. Even at $60, it's not bad. Glad it worked out.

I already knew thew the transmission mount was on it's way out but before it would only affect the car under load. Lately though it's been vibrating all the time. I haven't gotten around to changing the crossmember yet so I'm not sure if this is the fix.

definitely the trans mount. I had it up on a lift and had the tailshaft on the tranny raised up with a jack slightly and the vibration disappeared. Also I was in the car revving the engine and my brother was below listening for anything out of the ordinary and he said the motor was running very smooth with no bottom end noises at all.

What I think is going on here is that I used the little exhaust hanger plate from the 94 GT and it is kinda wide, so it sits very close to the crossmember on the sides. When I rev the engine even slightly, the twisting motion shoves that metal hanger plate right into the crossmember causing a vibration. What I need to do is remove the plate and take some metal off the ends to give it some clearance.

Money issues is what it really boils down to. Business isn't doing to good for me right now and jobs are scarce where I live so I have to do what I can for my family. I love my car as it is very unique and I get lots of praise on it but I gotta do what I gotta do you know?

Assuming the car is paid off at least you have money on stand by in it. Im sure you will get 6k out of it pretty easy. I had to do the same thing with 2 motorcycles at the end of 09. I had just had twins to make a total of 4 kids and everyone knows being in the military I was barely making it paycheck to paycheck so the bikes had to go and I took a big loss on them. Sometimes its best to let it go and get back up on your feet even though it's hard to let go of a beloved project. I am now divorced and started over in another relationship with yet another child to bring the total to 5. I found a second job and got another bike, a truck, and my stang. Im doing pretty well but strapping myself trying to rush the payoff process while I can afford it. Im not trying to give you "life" advice as though you probably already know the ins and outs of how it goes, but just passing on the friendly keep your head up and dont stress over the material items as they will always be there. You know? My best wishes go out to you and hope the job oppertunities open up for you.

Update:

Well I put the car in the air and pulled the trans mount down and it was in great shape. Didn't move much at all. The problem was the exhaust hanger plate grinding into the trans mount/crossmember assy. I simply cut off the little curved down ends on the exhaust hanger plate. OMG, this car drives like a dream now! Not a hint of vibrations anywhere, just smooth acceleration. What a relief.

Oh and my wife has talked me out of selling the car (came to that decision before fixing the mount as it happens). She says she had to put up with me going all over the place to buy parts to do the swap not to mention all the time I spent on the car and not her. She said if I sell it I can use a couple hundred of that money to file divorce papers! ouch!
