I wanna Buy Some HIDs...but

I was gonna do HID's. The thing is to me it doesn't look good to have HID headlights and halogen foglights. I would need to do both sets and at $400 each it's n ot gonna be cheap.

SO instead of $800 for a full HID front end, i just spent $50 for Silverstar headlights and some ricer fog light bulb that was white (cuz silverstar fogs burn out after a month)

Sylvania corrected their manufacturing process, the fogs no longer burn out so quickly. Also, it is important to wear gloves when installing these. The oils on your fingers will lead to premature failure.

you must of had a crappy kit, first off their is many things to consider. First off Mercedes uses 4300k Philips in their caps, 4200k Osram in their lower-end vehicles. 6000k Philips in their SL's and CLS models. BMW *only* uses 5800k in their 7 and 5 series and 4300 in everything else. My brother works at Mercedes of Palm Beach and this is the case on my dads clk 55 and s430 also. HID's are *never* going to work proper on a mustang or any type of car that doesnt have a functional projector that projects the HID beams toward the road depending on the angle and heigh of the road, every street is different and *real* Hid's adjust to the road surface. with that said, the best HID kit you can have is a OEM one. The OEM ballasts are really some of the only non-crap ballasts you can purchase. My brother gave me some wrecked Bosch ballast out of a e500 and I ghetto rigged up some philips d2s bulbs 4300k out of the e500 and siliconed them to our stock headlight housing. Didnt project light or color like I wanted and recently got some 9007 HID bulbs in 8000k. thats right, the 9007 bulbs fit *SNUG* and Perfect into the housing and snap in with the stock black circular piece that we use to keep our halogen bulbs in. They fit just like stock and the aim is amazing compared to my silicone ghetto setup. The 8000k is beautiful and looks 10x better then my dads clk55 or my friends g35. My sister has a 350z with hids and she envy's my lights. I will post a pic once I find where my data cable for my digital camera is. Here is the link to the seller that sells the STOCK FIT hid bulbs on ebay.

The lighting on my car at night is so beautiful, it makes the car look like a million bucks, the quality on the bulbs are amazing and the guy has 100% feedback. Now let me remind you that the higher Kelvin temperature the less light you actually have to light up the road. The more color, The less light and brightness. But IMO you barely can even tell. 4300 is a big difference from 8000 but 6000 and 8000 is like not a big difference, go with the 8000 has it sets you apart from *every* car on the road.

btw 4300 looks like ass, 6000k and 8000k look much nicer. Nissan Maxima/ Audi / BMW all have 6000k and it is beauttttifuuul.

Just one more thing.

An HID retrofit is not legal. This may be an issue to some come inspection time or out on the road with cops.

The only Legal retrofits are if the vehicle was available with HID"s and you used factory parts. An example is a Focus going HID using SVT focus headlights or a 1st gen Mark 8 going HID using parts from a '96 LSC.

Same deal with a benz or audi or BMW. You can upgrade to HID as long as that model did have it available and you use the factory parts.

Since the only Mustang to come with HID's is the 2005 Saleen, that means any retrofit to a 64-04 Mustang is technically illegal. This is due to incorrect headlight housing and the lack of a fuctional high beam when using an HID retrofit.

Ok i am think i am gonna go with the 6000 or the 5300...what does everyone think. Both From ultrabrightlights.com. Tell me what you guys think.

Give me Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down

I would never consider HID's rice. I can't wait until they become even more mainstream in production cars.

No need to resort to name calling just because someone does not agree with you

Especially in tech

No specific user names were mentioned so it's appropriate in my opinion. Rice is a term used frequently by those who are ignorant of the functionality of what they consider an "appearance-only" mod that they haven't ever used themselves.

Digital cameras s**k at taking front-on headlight pictures, or maybe it's the user (me). The 8000K headlights are actually much better in real life than as shown, while the fog lights are pretty close in real life to those in the pics.
