I want to install a C4 in my Fox. How?????

I bought a very nice looking C4 for a mere $50 today. I want to add a high-stall torque converter and go through the valve body with a kit. I know I need a block plate, 157 tooth flexplate and a mount. Are there cooler lines? Any cables?

If anyone of a HIGHER eschelon could help me out, I can easily shave some time off my ET. Get outta the whole faster with a trans brake.

Looking for shifter recomendations?

aside from what youve already mentioned youll need a shifter, shifter cable, cooler lines and a tranny cooler especially if you are getting a high stall. i had the b&m pro stick in mine and i liked it. i just ran rubber transmission line to the cooler. as far as a transbrake is concerned i would make sure the tranny has really good internals before i put one in there.

I'm pretty sure I have a flexplate for that in the shed if your interested, I had an art carr in mine for a while sold it for the 5speed swap, but I think I still have the flexplate, I'll never need it again on my car. The thing I hated about the c4 is it tach's so high at 60mph all the time, but around town it's not to bad, I'm just a 5 speed man myself.

Ive got a C4 tranny in my 75' pinto with a 302 in it with 4.10's. I think it has a horrible high RPM at 60 like you say. Here its 65, so I go like 70-75 and I feel like I'm near red line. Id fix it but it doesnt matter, 302 pinto will prolly never have traction, and its no flooring it and going sideways lol

You should be able to use either a 157 or 164 tooth flexplate, ie, and aod unit should work. You just have to buy a converter and bellhousing that matches.

I have two C4 cars, my Capri and the 82 Mustang. The Capri currently has 2.73 gears and it is still up at 3000 rpm at 70 or so. The 82 has 4.10's and it is miserable to drive at 55 or above, although it will take anything out there from a stop or a roll....

If you use a stock valve body, you should also use a kickdown linkage (rod, in most cases) and a vacuum modulator. Should be a good setup.

I was about to ask you if it's a pan fill or case fill, the pan fill's were normally used on light duty trucks with a 164 tooth flywheel, and the case fills were usually in passenger cars w/a 157 tooth wheel.

coincidentally, the bells are different, the larger bell used on the pan fill is made to take a 164 tooth, if you get a 157, the starter won't properly contact the ring gear...

Also, the pan fill tranny's take a large bolt pattern converter...11 7/16", whereas the the case fill takes a 10 1/2" bolt circle...these numbers conincide with the flexplate diameter.
