IAC Restristor Plate? RPM Hang?

Posted in 4.6 fourm to see if anyone here has tried this?

Anyone done this mod. My 01 3.8 L w/ 34k has RPM hang between shifts (5 speed). I had a previous post, someone suggested replacing the ICA, which I did. The car no longer reves its self up at idle after long trips, up still has the RPM hang. I cant stand this. I found this thead and wondered if anyone has done it. If so what size hole did you use on your 3.8L. I'm gonna try it this week or next week if I ever get a day off work.

There was a gentlemen here on Stangnet that sells that restrictor plate and I bought one for myself. NEVER again will I drive my car without it. It makes it SO much FUNNER to drive this thing with that plate on. I didn't have to redrill the hole either, he had them dead on. Plus the exhaust sounds better, and I can tell a difference even though I have STOCK exhaust! RPM's drop MUCH much quicker. I'm a satisfied customer... wish I could remember his name for you though.

Although I have a 4.6 and not the V6, but I'm sure you'll notice the difference as well.

To me, it was easier to take the tubing and little box to the hardware store and find a pipe fitting that would fit snuggly into the box while allowing the tubing to still fit over it as well. I bought it, drilled a 3/8" hole in it, and it helps somewhat.

You could do this IAC mod by buying a 1/2" copper pipe cap from the hardware store for $.30 or so. My RPM drops so fast that I have to rev match every upshift, making my car sound like Steve McQueen's bullitt going down the road. :D

Start out by drilling a 1/4" hole and go bigger if needed.

I did the cap thing a few months ago, and just recently took it out, just to see what it was like before... I hated it. RPM's wouldn't drop, and shifting was cumbersome... Put it back, and all is well, Stang is fun to drive again...!
