hey guys, i got a 99 gt that idles really bad, particularly in the mornings. sometimes to the point where it stalls itself out. i was told that it may be IAC valve so i got some carb cleaner and sprayed it out, but it hasnt helped. does it need to be replaced?? will a bad iac hurt my 1/4 times??

If you have to keep your foot on the accelerator just to keep the car idling, then you need to replace the IAC. Cleaning it won't really help, because the valve seems to just wear out (a good way for Ford to continue making $65+ from us every few years).

do u think that having that problem will hurt my 1/4 mile times? i have also noticed that if i have my vent on when the car starts idling rough, then u can smell gas.thanks for the post!

yes replace it. it wont affect your 1/4 times, but theres more to life than 1/4 mile anyway, theres things called turns.

HUH?? IAC's affect turns... the iac might be bad yes it's good idea too fix it if it's the problem...

and about turns... what are those... racing to me and maybe too this guy too is lining up and running the quarter... turns is a good way too have your car end up upside down in a ditch in some remote area and getting raped by hillbillys... screw turns i build my cars for the straight line..

i never implied IACs affect turning.

ive done both road and dag racing and ya drag racing is nice, but a true test of drivers skill is turning left and right, downshifting, and braking.
