ideas for my 1996 cobra

i have a stock 1996 mystic cobra i have had it since new and am now ready to give the engine some new power . i need some ideas on some mods any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I know that you said the Cobra was stock, if you do not have an aftermarket mid-pipe such as a Bassani or MagnaFlow and maybe for sound than performance a nice cat-back muffler system. Get some 4.10 gears installed because the car is really under geared with the 3.27's. Maybe put a nice cold air setup and then get some under drive pulleys installed. Not much to do to the engine performance-wise unless you want to pay mucho dinero for long tube headers and/or any type of forced or chemical induction, ie; nitrous. These Cobra powerplants are plenty stout but the Hypereutetic pistons, are great for naturally aspirated engines because they keep oil burning down to a minimum with the low friction rings but not for stuff like I just mentioned. Oh, and the rods may not hold up as well. If you decide to do it anyways, you might want to either rebuild the engine outright or put money in the bank when the time will come that the engine starts to fail.

Get a shifter, at least 4.10 gears and full exhaust. Headers,mid pipe,catback.

Get 4.30 gears, aftermarket ****er(either TriAx or Pro 5.0), and some drag radials to start. With just these mods, it will feel like a whole other car.

go with the 4.10 gears....I love them. Cold air intake, chip, and exhaust. I just got a bassanni O/R pipe and its great!

thanks for the ideas guys this car is my daily driver so 4.10 are outill go with the 3.73 and a x pipe w cats and a cat back exhaust and a shifter... wghat do yall think about this a my first mods...

Why should 4.10's be out? Take my word for it and go at least 4.10, if not 4.30. I was thinking like you are and put 3.73's in mine. And now they're coming back out and 4.30's are going in. And yes my car is my daily driver.

I too have a 96 cobra (yes its mystic too). I have 3.73's, and really like them but if i were getting new gears to replace stock i would go with 4.10's(yes its a daily driver) I also have underdrive pullies, and a pro-m 80mm mass air. These were on the car when i got it so i dont know how much they help but im assuming its a noticable diffrence. I have the mac o/r h-pipe and flows and i love the way it sounds. I get compliments every day on how good it sounds. go to mustangexhaust.com to listen to diffrent exhaust combo's. next on the list for me is a short throw shifter and long tubes.
