Ok...I hate to be that guy, but can anyone throw a guess at which Tremec and Oil pan I have in my car? The PO was a young kid who didn't have the info.

I know the pics suck. I had to rush into another repair on another car...

Going to need more to go on that just the Tremec name cast into the side of the main case. Tremec made a lot of transmissions.

It's in the 3550 family. The casting ribs and various features do appear to put it in that family.

Now, is it a 3550, or a TKO variant? Need more than pics to tell yo that

Run the numbers off the tag that is on the trans and it'll tell you which one and how many spline

I can’t find anything on an oil pan of that style. Is it a 7qt or standard? As for the trans, maybe this will help you if you haven’t seen it.

Don't laugh...I'm not a car noob, but I just drained and filled the car with 5 quarts (I didn't change the filter as its a Mobil-1 with 500 miles on it), and the oil level on the dipstick (which is identical to the Ford Racing dipstick/tube I just ordered) barely registered, and was under the "add" mark. Which is why I'm confused. The PO told me 5.2 quart fill, but he used the existing oil pan that was on the car.

If I go 7 quarts...are their symptoms I can quickly identify that I overfilled it if it is indeed a 5 quart pan?

Yes. It will be way over full on the dipstick. Why don’t you just try adding a little bit at a time till you get to the full mark and go from there. .2 quarts isn’t going to be the difference though if it just barely registered on the stick at 5.

Oil pan looks similar to mine a 7 quart Melling. I run 6 though and remarked the stick for both 6 And 7.
