idle issues

[95 BLACK BEAUTY]

Just had trick flow HCI, 70mm TB, 24's, 80mm MAF off cobra installed. I still have
U4PO computer. Also, had a BBK CAI installed. The problem is hot idle, ie surging,and dieing. Car seems to pull hard while on throttle. Waiting to get tune next week. My question is about the MAF and the CAI. How important is that screen in the MAF? I've read all sorts of stuff pro and con. Is it needed for smooth idle or not? I'm a real novice at this and would appreciate any help.

Never heard of the screen having anything to do with a smooth idle. I always figured it was there to keep debris out of the engine in case your air filter failed or something.

As to your idle, it has everything to do with all the parts you just installed. The 94-95 computers aren't that flexible when it comes to new parts, so you will need that tune next week to take care of the issues. I'm sure others will chime in with much the same thing.
