I have a 98 gt 5speed and about a week ago I noticed my idle seemed a little high. I got in it one day and it wouldnt stay running. I pulled the hose from the throttle body and it black. I cleaned out the throttle body and its been good for about 2 weeks. Its now acting up again. I was thinking maybe the IAC is clogged. Can these be cleaned out or do I just need to replace it? Thanks all.

Start with the IAC, as you figured. Get some carb cleaner and spray it towards the pintle (the needle looking thing), never towards the solenoid. Tap it on the bench and watch the brown stuff fall out. Spray again, tap, repeat. If you can get a small brush in there then you don't have to do so many spray-tap cycles. It usually helps but it may not be a permanent solution. Be careful that you don't rip the gasket when taking off the IAC valve. I suggest that you get a Ford/OEM IAC when you decide you need one.
