I recently installed a set of BBK shorty headers on my 04 GT. I used the gaskets that came with the set and they turned out to be crap and leaked very badly. I replaced the passenger side gaskets with Ford MLS gaskets but the drivers side is still leaking pretty bad and I have to work so it will be a few days before I replace that side.

Before I installed the headers the car ran perfectly but now when I am idling it idles normally then drops down to about 500rpm for a few seconds and the goes back to normal and keeps going back and forth.
Would the exhaust leak cause this?

Yes. An exhaust leak depending on where it's located can cause problems. Leaks infront of 02 sensors can give false readings and cause the 02 sensors to react to the readings. This could effect the idle. Pearl02.
