I think the guys on Dream Car Garage are better drivers on top of being A LOT smarter.
That skinny guy(Peter) can hop into almost anything and push it to the limit, including old Indy cars. Anytime those brits on TopGear get a vintage car, they just cruise in it cause they don't want to wreck it. The big guy(Tom) is also a great driver; but Peter drives the cars more since it's his resto shop.
I bet if you gave Peter a '69 Mustang, he could still drive circles around those Brits if they had a Brand new Mustang.
That and you actually learn stuff on Dream Car Garage. All you ever learn on TopGear is how to do a burnout, and if geniuses can do burnouts.

Well the brits dont have the balls to go fast they just want to go around a turn with out hearing the tires squeal and having the fear of the rear end coming around because it actually has torque.

That's kinda silly.

Ever heard of a Mclaren F1. Held the top speed record for awhile?

or Jaguar, Aston Martin, Lotus, or TVR?

The TVR Speed 12 was a freaking monster. The car weighed 2200lbs. 800+ hp.

As for Top Gear. It has to be taken with a grain of salt. Like most anything on TV, it's entertaining, not educational. They're over the top and they know it.

Have you guys ever seen the top gear when they each had 1000 dollars to buy a car in florida and the three of them road tripped to NOLA? I was crying laughing, it was hysterical. Then they painted gay slurs on the cars and stopped for gas in a hick town, and almost got killed... it was a riot.

Definitely to be taken with a grain of salt.

That episode was fricking hilarious!
I don't take their opinions seriously, its just entertaining. We all know how good some of the american cars they test are, so to me it really doesn't matter what their uneducated and biased oppinions are. I mean, look at how they bashed the new Z06 for having a rear leaf spring suspension. I bet you they never even had a look under the car to see how its actually set-up. And apparently they know nothing about dynos. They comment about alot of things they don't even know anything about. You just have to filter-out the rubbish.

whos to say that all us brits are the same as the stereotype set by clarkson? most people are aware that top gear is full of crap, does that mean to say that everyone here who watches it is a "gay brit"? i was born in england, and still live in england, but there are flaws in this country as there are your own, no place is perfect. most people i know love american cars, the only people who dont are the ricers, so if anybody is mis informed about anything its the haters in this thread and their blatant slating of an entire country because of a TV show...

I recently saw a review of the 2007 Z06... which had something like the 5th best track time they've EVER seen. Beating many Ferraris, lamborghini's, etc. They still managed to bash on it because it "doesn't have good street manners or creature comforts compared to a Ferrari" that costs 4 times as much.

Nice F'ing work detective! You must be a bloody bobby with insight like that! Does the queen know you are wasting your deductive powers on Top Gear when you could be solving crime around the empire?

Scottish mostly, My Scottish lines went Irish for a gen or so then went back way way back but depending on what history you take it is either the same clan as Braveheart or another has us related to some female direct family member of his (I do not put much weight in this as so little is known). My family also came over as part of Jamestown (have stuff in the smithsonian-sp?). My grandfathers line also ties into the dutch royal family(Christian or Christianson IIRC) that was exiled and there is another whole ball of wax with some very interesting names in that line...

In the US I have relatives that have the last names Wilson...family of the Pres., Hopkins...as in the school, Younger(sp?) as in Jessie James gang are some. 9 or 6 fought in the rev. war and 6 or 9 (whatever the rev. was the opposite for the civil) in the civil war (north and south). There is a Creek in NC or SC named Collins Creek that was named after a GGgrandfather for leading the charge to take the ground. One relative fought under Sam Adams.

My mom and aunts are gene-geeks...

I still like the show Top Gear and think it is VERY intertaining but wish they had more of a "technical" car guy for some things and not journalists. Last weeks show here when they came to the US was funny...what hunks of crap they got for 1k or less and the amaizing thing is...they made the trip. Sadly they do not have any "mod" topics and that is were alot of US sports cars differ from euro's...the cheap entry cost and limitless add ons from the aftermarket. What a job though to go out and thrash jags, austins, benz's, bimmers, and others on that track...

They do have some badAss Exotic cars over there, so I will give them that. I think the reason they talk "BIG S**T" is because deep down inside, nothing compares to the sound and feel of that good ole', hard runnin', American powered V8. Those Brits also know that they would get Big-Time Status by driving a Shelby Gt500 around the streets of London, just because of the rarity. Our American Mustangs have that "Coolness" that the Brits can't quite touch. I bet you'd get alotta props drivin a Shelby GT500 around there! You would be swarmed by the masses. The Ford Mustang IS an IKON! We know it and they Know it. End of story

Britain has some pretty iconic cars also. Aston Martin, Jaguar, TVR, etc. Get caught driving here in one of those and you're pretty hot ***** too. We got our cool cars, GB has got their cool cars. We got British bashers, and they got their American bashers. So lets just all have a sit-down, sip a cup-o-tea, and wait for all this to blow over.
