Yes here's the question. If you were building a 94-95 Mustang and you had the choice of having any gear'd trans. you wanted what would be your decision?
For those who the specifics concern here they are:
Light to mild track duty.
Street car for cruises and such.
Let's say the car is about 450-500hp pump gas.
Is a coupe and the rear gear won't matter that can be chosen after the tranny decision is made.

The options of transmissions is:
TKO500 or 600 (Tremec please specify which)
G-Force T-5 (Astro Performance)
WC T-5 (FMS)
3650 (OEM Ford)
T-56 (Tremec and if chosen which spec do you prefer)
Other (and list what that other is please)

i'd go with a t-56 viper spec. yes it cost more money and the swap is more involved, but you'll never have to worry about a tranny again. if i ever have problems with my T3550 (older TKO500 model), that's what i'll be doing.

I too chose the T-56 viper spec. Its heavy from what I hear, but I would love that extra gear, and also having closer ratios. Plus, it can handle power.

If or when I change my tranny it will be a viper spec T56.

Gforce. Too many vibration problems and fitment PIA to deal with tremmec. The trans was the only thing I didnt have issue with on the swap.

Without a doubt the Viper spec T56, if I only had one more gear right now I wouldnt be driving a econo box. lol. (actually I would be).

I got an astro and would do it again. I recommend Tony from astro very much and have had great luck.

I thought about a t56, but the cost, weight and modifications turned me away. With 450-500 a T5 is perfect. It will rob little power and shift great.

If you had 600+ rwhp I would say t56 all the way.

My gforce handles 600rwhp no problem and its not as heavy.
