I mentioned that car in my build thread, sold for $12k.

2.3L Ghia, pretty much the least desirable, $7700.

Green 2.3 Ghia, not original, still $2900 (God, I remember when running driving V8 cars were 1/3 of that!)

Dyno Don's II, $90,000

Every single one of these IIs with the exception of Dyno Don's car would be a simple $1500 write-off with normal insurance.

Make sure you get collector car coverage on your II. You can usually get it cheaper than regular insurance, with little-to-no driving restrictions outside of it not being a daily driver, and you can get agreed-upon value coverage, which will cover your mods and your time invested if you do it correctly. II values are going up, it'd be a shame to see someone lose their car AND the hard work and money invested in it!

idk man, I love my II, but that $2900 green Ghia, I think the wheels cost more than it went for. And the $12k Cobra, the engine's worth more than $12k (they say they have $50k in it). And both look to be in beautiful shape. I don't disagree that agreed-value coverage makes sense for some cars, but these II prices leave me disappointed in the deeper analysis.

Fact of the matter is though, "agreed value" coverage is whatever you want it to be. My II will be insured for $25k once it's in the garage.

Not because it's actually worth $25k, but because that's how much it would cost to buy another II and build it again.

The auction prices just show that the value on our cars is going up.

Yeah, that yellow-orange car has been around for a while. I snapped some photographs of it when I seen it at the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Minneapolis, I think it was in 1998. It hasn't changed at all since then from what I can tell - same wheels and all!
