Im having a problem with my 1995 gt. I took my coil wire off my distributer cap (held it close to see if it was sending any spark) and it is not sending any spark, as a result of this my car will not work. i replaced the ignition module under my cold air intake pipe thinking that that was the problem but it wasnt.

I would like to mention that i have a Mallory HiFire VII Digital ignition box and an original coil. The ignition box is mounted on my firewall above the power steering unit.

i believe that the problem is located somewhere between my ignition box and my coil. my question are; if the coil was dead, wouldnt it still show a voltage reading? or would it read as if it were dead? Also, how would i check to see if my ignition box were dead? I really hope that is not the case because it was pretty expensive... if anyone out there can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Can you unhook your ignition box (the aftermarket one) and see if the car runs again (put it back to stock)?

That is the easiest way to see if the box is at fault (the testers for boxes are kind of expensive).

Good luck.

I had that same ignition and had nothing but problems. It burned out my stock coil to and almost left me stranded. Its too strong for the stock coil so you HAVE to get an aftermarket piece. Even if you put it back to stock at this point, it will not fire since the coil is fried.

Now i have the step below that one...where its similar to the MSD 6al. The digital stuff was cool...but gave me too many problems.

Get a Mallory coil(expensive....$70 or so) or maybe a MSD will work, those are $45 i think.

Good luck.

Nate-
What coil are you using? Just curious cause Ill probably go with what you got. Also, did the Mallory box give your ignition module (under your cai) problems as well? You still use that box right?
