I'm a rook. I have a heads/engine question

Okay, I'm sorry, this is another stupid question, but I don't want to F anything up. This is my first motor I've ever actualyl torn in to. Sicne my 302 to is bored .030 over to a 306, am I going to have to do anything to the heads I put on it? Sorry I'm an idiot.

Head gaskets are usually .100 inches over the standard bore, so no you won't have to do anything special. Unless you are going to put a bigger cam in it then you might want to check the piston to valve clearence while you got the head off. Cheap insurance.

I think way back when, that was the accepted definition. However, the term motor is used a lot for gasoline engines, so they added it to the dictionary.

It's kind of too bad this happens, but I guess the dictionary must reflect the actual spoken usage of language? I keep wondering if they will change the accepted use of the apostrophe, since so many people misuse that. Sorry, end hijack.. (my mother is an English teacher, so that's my excuse).

It depends upon the dictionary. Some are more descriptive and are quick to include popular definition "shifts" and slang terms, while others (OED for example) are more PREscriptive and rigid in their traditional definitions. I for one agree, a motor is an electrical device.

nope, you need not do anything in regards to your heads on your 306 motor.
