I'm bored, so how about some bench racing?

Starting next week, I will be working on the 88. It developed a rod knock in Febuary just moments after getting the C4 in and working. She sat for months until I tried driving her home last weekend for the work... but sadly needed a tow. None the less, I will be pulling it appart next week. :D

Awaiting install, I have a 50 trim T3/4 with stage III exhaust side, undersized crank with new bearings ;) ported LOW COMPRESSION head (as opposed to the 9.5:1 I'm running now) and a nicely ported lower. On the suspension side, I'm ditching some of my autoX setup, in favor of the factory 4cyl springs, and sway bar. It had enough traction problems with 240hp lol.

So here will be the new setup for what I can remember:
50 trim T3/4 stage III (boost will depend on AF's with my undersized injectors)
small NPR front mount
Ported head (8:1 as opposed to 9.5:1 now lol)
ported E6
Ported lower intake and gutted upper
big VAM + 35lb injectors and LB3
3" downpipe narrowed to 2.5" and out a single 2.5" tailpipe (yeah, no more muffler or cat)
big K&N on the VAM
Mild cam (220-220 ink/exh .450 lift)
AFPR to eek more from the injectors

All of that, in my 88 hatch which will have:
4cyl sway bar
4cyl springs up front
AC delete
removed sound deadner
fresh C4 which shifts nice and FRIM :D
7.5 w/3.73s
And of course my 17" 99+ GT wheels with street tires
I would expect it to weigh less than 3000lbs with my heavy butt in it.

I still have everything for the water/methanol injection, but I doubt it will be needed until I can get some much bigger injectors.

Now, you guys have to get me excited about finished everything. What do you think it'll have for hp/tq and quarter mile times?
Personally, I'd like to see at least 300hp at the crank with 330 being better. I don't know if the injectors can do that or not though. I'll definatly have to crank the fuel pressure up. Is mid 13s at 108ish to much to expect?

With my previous setup below, 14psi T3, too much compression and slipping A4ld I got some low 14s at 98mph. The transmission really was struggling though.

I was thinking about my next steps after this too. I was thinking megasquirt with much bigger injectors, and then a different header and full 3" exhaust after that. Sounds like a 400+hp setup there with enough boost and good gas :D

Hey just curious how long did it take you to do the 2.3t swap? Im seriously thinking of selling my svo after I put a new engine in it and putting a turbo in a later fox body ( 87-93).:nice:
Oh you should be making about 300hp, Im sure you will, and alot more trac. problems.:D

thanks josh

I never truely did a turbo swap. I was living under my parents roof at the time, and that wouldn't work. I did however get a turbo on the NA engine, and went from there... Worked fine for a while :p
But I'd say swapping a turbo engine in shouldn't take more than a week. The wiring is already there. It is just a matter of bolting in the engine, putting in a new computer and adding an exhaust system. Not a huge project by any means if you have a good 2.3 turbo doner engine.
