also, what kind of not so wild cam is gonna rev to 10k?

Ed Curtis grinds spec'd cams under .500 lift turn 8000 RPM in an N/A application (with hydraulic rollers). Forced induction will make things easier. Solid rollers are almost a must in such a high RPM application, but they will also help out in "taming" the cam.

Remember, all the blown cars on here never got a professionally burned chip or tune either. A professional tune is a must in this scenario.

I hate to compare these two, but his car is going to be much like a Supra in the respect that it will rev high and make power with the rev's. They are very streetable, and believe it or not, have a very high gear set. It may lack a little bit of low end torque, but I don't think that much will be lost. He's not putting a big head or a manifold on the car, so that will help the car's street manners.

It's all a guessing game.....

A question for the (rightful) skeptics though: What point (power wise) would you consider too much for a daily driver, and why?

I have a question. Can I have a ride when you get it going?

None. It's all in the combination, more specifically, the cam combination with the cylinder heads and manifold. Running a wild cam is what is going to make the car lose it's street manners. With a turbo'ed car though, there is no need to run a wild cam - it's overkill. If you were going for 700 horsepower N/A, that would be different, but your getting there in a different way which makes things much easier.

Which is exactly how I'm looking at it.

I I think a 800hp+ car, that revs to 8-10k is not gonna be a daily driver. For one there is gonna be issues. Look at all our cars that are under 500hp, seems like everyone with a power adder has issues. Its just gonna get magnified. Also, the gas mileage is gonna be rediculous.

Now this can all change, if your gonna bring the boost down nice and low on the street, and jack it up at the track.

I'm not saying that there won't be issues to deal with, but I'm confident that they can be dealt with so that the car will still be streetable. And as Joe mentioned, I've not seen a car with a professional tune (and by professional, I mean the car is on a dyno for most the day hooked up to a computer and a PhD) have any serious problems unless they were trying to run a rotten combo. History has shown us that boosted strokers aren't that rotten .

And while it pains me everytime I fill the tank, I think the cost of the motor will overshadow any concern I have for the cost of gas.

Also, I should clarify as it seems like there's a bit of confusion. I'm not planning on running 750+ hp everyday on the street. I plan on having a few different tunes (acessed through something like a flip-chip). My low side tune will be somewhere around 500 hp. But the plans still call for a pump gas (93 octane) 750 hp combo that can be comfortably driven on the street (i.e. it will start right up, even when cold, and idle normally). As for what numbers it will turn with 116 octane... I'm interested but since I don't hit the 1/4 mile that often, it isn't a priority.

I think that one comment really sums it up. Although I wouldn't call it a crap shoot, it's basically an educated guess. The bonus is that there are enough hi-po engine builders in the global Mustang community, I'll have plenty of educated guessers to speak with before the block gets ordered.

You betcha Kevin. Just between you and me, this car is going to see the double century mark.

Actually, I'm not at all concerned with the tranny. Plenty of people are running the Viper T56 with my envisioned power levels and much more. IMO, the tranny is the least of my worries.

Damn, that sucks. I suppose I should mention that the car sits at about 3000# right now and I'm aiming for around 2900# with driver by the time it's all done. The low weight (and no traction ) ought to preserve tranny life for awhile.
