^ Yeah, sealed boxes have the best sound IMO. A sealed box will have much tighter bass and deeper extebsion since a ported box falls off -12db per octave below the port tuning frequency (usually 40hz). A ported box will be boomier then a seald box. Also on a sealed box the larger the box (to mfg specs) will give deeper bass and a smaller box will handle more power and have more upper bass "kick".
If I were to build a budget Mustang system I would get:
Pioneer Premier DEH-P600UB, has 7 band eq, 4v outputs, x-overs, sub controll etc. etc. $160
MB Quart PAB-5400 5 channel amp 55w x4 + 200x1 (300 @ 2 ohm) $215
Infinity 6822CF co-axials for the rear $55
Audiobahn ABC680V 6x8 Components for front, and these are killer sounding speakers! $60
Infinithy Kappa Perfect 10" sub. One of the smoothest sounding subs I have ever used and the box is tiny! $140
Thats $630 and the sound would blow you away. It will be loud enough to set off a car alarm but the SQ would be studio quality and the control the deck has would be perfect. You can controll an I-pod with it too
