im new here with a ?

i have an 03 gt with 30,000 miles on it. i picked up the car 3 weeks ago and sometimes mainly when the car is cold but some times when its warm i head a small tick whick sounds kinda lave a fuel injector tick coming from which sounds like under the car near the exhaust manifolds. can any one tell me if this is anything to worry about or is this normal? i will try to get under there tomorrow or this weekend depending on the weather to pinpoint it. any help will be appricated. .

The tr3650 transmissions in these cars have an issue with the syncronizers or something. Ford had a warrenty fix that you might be able to get if your still under warrenty. Search tr3650 in the thread search. There might be something in there that will help you.

well i got under the car today and it sounds like the noise is coming from the passanger header / cat area so im thinking a leak or something and i also noticed that there is more pressure coming out the driver side tail pipe. it was almost 60 degrees out here today and i didnt really have any problems with the tranny. and my car is a 5 speed. and since my car has the factory for warranty on it for another month i went to my local ford dealer to get it checked out.

welcome to owning a mustang. You will be plagued by little sounds, bumps, clicks, and squeeks until the day you sell her.

Fix-all for the above:
Turn radio up
put windows down
install a SLP cat back

That will solve most of your problems that would otherwise drive you nuts but never really warrant the time and $$ to fix them.

good luck

As said above, there's a technical service bulletin out for that 1-2 clunk sound. The first remedy is to try changing the fluid fill level in there to whatever it recommends. Next step would be to get the parts the TSB says and replace the syncros.

The exhaust leak is an easy fix. Check the tightness of the bolts where the header bolts to the midpipe. If it's loose, tighten it. Check for cracks.. if there are, weld them up.

Exhaust ticking isn't a normal sound, not even on Mustangs... except maybe for some people who take no pride in the mechanical condition of their car or something.
