IMRC secondaries question(4 valve engines) solenoid voltage?

Ok, I don't usually post in this forum, bu I need some info....I have a '66 mustang I am swapping in a 4 valve engine(to be more specific a '94 lincoln mark viii engine...same as an early 4 valve cobra engine except for the intake manifold and a couple of other little things) anyway, I am using MegaSquirt to control this engine, I hope to get roughly stock Cobra power out of it without swapping the manifold with a bit of extra timing and fuel....anyway, one thing I will absolutely need on this is of course a working IMRC system, easy enough with MegaSquirt...I just need to know what voltage the IMRC solenoid uses to open the butterflies so I can build an appropriate output into Megasquirt to switch it on and off at the appropriate RPM(or whatever other RPM I chose to play with)

anyone? I am guessing its 12v, but I have no way of finding out

Typically, such solenoids for automotive use are 12V. One side is wired to a switched 12V source and the other to the controlling device. In the MS, this will probably be an N-channel FET or NPN (possibly Darlington) bipolar. Make sure the channel you use is capable of sinking upwards of at least 150% of the expected solenoid current (select a channel with at least 1.5A, or more, steady state current.)

I believe the solenoids are energized to apply vacuum to the actuators to close the IMRC plates. You'll also need to program the MS to de-energize the solenoids (to open the plates) at the proper RPM.

to be honest, i have no idea about the irmc's. i deleted the butterflys.

but on a side note... im just got my injecters back today. i just flushed out my entire fuel system and im almost ready to put the injecters back into the car so i can try changing some of the things you had suggested on my car. thanks again for your input on my car.
