In Gear Shifter Slop......Anyone??

When my car is in gear the shifter wiggles and its really annoying. anyone have any ideas??

Do you still have the stock wet noodle shifter if so get a aftermarket one.

Pull off the boot and see if the bolt came loose. Mine got sloppy so I took mine off to see why and the bolt was indeed loose. It's good as new now.

nope no wet noodle, got a pro 5.0. hmm alright ill check the bolts and get back to you guys

yah my short throw shifter did the same thing. i had to locktight the bolts in so they wouldn't loosen off.

did you ck the little plastic bushing that sits inside the shift rod under the shifter? if you ritually beat on it, it may've gone south

that i havnt checked yet, and yes i do ritually beat on it...to an extent, i just checked the bolts on the shifter and they were fine. thanks for the info

checked the cup under the shifter, looked fine, replaced it anyway still doing it, anymore suggestions?

is the handle itself loose.

no, the handle is tight, even when the car is off, when i put it in gear, it wiggles back and fourth especially bad in fourth. it started when i put the rebuilt t-5 i bought in.

Transmission motor mounts?

When my shifter vibrated like hel in fifth and fourth gear on the freeway, someone told me that replacing my tranny motor mounts might fix that. Maybe?

ive replaced it but havnt checked it in a while, i'll give that a shot. thanks.

Interesting...I figured it would be the plastic bushing in where the shifter ball goes into the tranny...mine came out (yours could have broken) and it wiggled in gear...

Did you get one at your local part store?

didnt break, but i had another one laying around that was new so i put it in and it still wiggles, mainly in third and fourth. checked my mounts, mounts are good, checked shift stops those are set right. kinda running out of options. this all started when i put in my new t-5. with my old tranny the shifter never was sloppy in gear
