In need of some quick help with steering problem

So I was driving to see a friend, about 300 miles away. I got stuck in traffic when I got down there and when I started moving I noticed by steering was all wacky. I was able to wobble the steering wheel back and forth quite a bit before it actually turned the wheels. There is a lot of play I guess you would say in the steering wheel. im still able to steer but theres just a lot of play and its kind of bad while driving. Any suggestions on what might have happened or whats causing this. Mods are in my sig. Thanks.

most likely your long tubes melted the rubber donut on the steering shaft anothe thing to look at is the rack itself

My friends dad was thinking the same thing. I'm assuming that its gonna be a pain to fix since the headers are in the way. What do u think the cost would be to fix it and also is there anyway that the steering column can come apart? I just want to make sure I can at least still drive it and not worry about my steering going out. Thanks.
