well its been 2 hours so far in. i pulled the upper off, transfered the trottle body to cobra, and unlugged the fuel injectors and unbolted the lower. i guess its time to take the dizzy out now? so many connections lol. its going to be difficult. also underneath the stock upper looks like there is more **** than can go on the cobra upper do i not reuse something under there?

I always take the distributor off before the upper intake just to give myself room. I'm not sure about the connections, they should be similar. Never done a cobra, just an edelbrock and stock. Good luck, should be fairly simple to line everything up.

yeah another break im on my 3rd hour now. in that hour made little prgoress. pulled the fuel injecotrs themselves out. need to find a fuel line tool to disconnect the two lines. then need to unbolt the 2 bolts by the water pump and pull the dizzy. then the lower should come off. transfer the fuel injecor assemble to the new lower and bolt that down. put the dizzy back in and the water pump bolts. and hook up all that electrical and then its time for another break!

there is no need to disconect the fuel rail from the lines. just place the whole assembely off to the passenger side. unless you are using new rails.

thanks for the tip. i decided to call it a day since im tired and work early. i feel like the worst "mechanic" ever. i spent 7 hours on the instal so far. took me 4 to get the upper, lower, dizzy, drain coolant, oil, transfer throttle body and clean injectors. than 3 scrapping and cleaning the gasket surfaces. finally finsihed and looks great hope the extra care in cleaning the surfaces is worth it. tommorow when i get off work i hopefully will finish but who knows with me doing the work....

i took me friday night and saturday morning. then i did not even start it up till sunday. i wanted to wait the 24 hours just to be safe. now i could probably have it on and off in about 2 hours. either way its a good learning experience.

When removing my dizzy I didn't mark where the actual rotor was so when I put it back in I had to move the engine to top dead center and put the rotor right in front of #1 on the dizzy and pop that ****er back in. Took an extra hour just cause of me not properly marking how I took out the dizzy :P

However, overall changing my carb intake manifold took about 8 hours with a good 2 hours total in break times due to dinner, and just wanting random breaks here and there.

yeah i learned a lot so far by doing this. i can say that i did it myself instead of paying someone to do it. makes me feel better about the whole thing. sometimes the best thing you can do is no when to call it a day so you dont get to worn out and pissed off

Definetly. Everything that has been done to my car has been by me & my father. I'm not paying anyone to do **** (Except install gears and re-pack my tracklock because i dont want to mess that up) :). If I can't do it myself or don't feel comfortable doing it myself i'll ask my dad for help. He's had plenty of years of experience working on cars and knows plenty to help me with just about anything I need.
