Infinity Components

Has anybody installed Infinity Component speakers in their car? I've been thinking about replacing just the regular coaxial speakers that currently reside where the Mach 460 used to. My biggest concern at this point is mounting the tweeters and the external crossovers. First, will Infinity's "starfish" mounting system actually work in the factory tweeter location? Second, where is a good spot to put the crossovers?

And before you all say it, YES I would rather listen to the eight cylinder symphony but on the long drives home from school I need the music to keep me going. I suppose I could just floor it the entire time and that should definitely keep me awake, but the Ohio State Highway Patrolmen wouldn't like that very much.

I saw this article in two parts online and it gave me some ideas on how to attack the problem of a good inconspicuous sound system in a Mustang. Now I just need to get to a point where I'll spend money on the sound. . .

I personally don't care about the in-dash DVD systems, but they did an pretty decent job with the tweeters.

ive been wanting to go the same but i think after having infinitys i wanna go with memphis... their highs are amazing.... and im thinking a JL in the back will be cute... lol

unless you are going to replace all speakers and bypass the ford amp, then it wont work. there is a difference in the ampedence between the mach 460 speakers and aftermarket speakers. i think the 460 system is wired for 6 Ohms as well as the speakers, and aftermarket is 4 Ohms. I replaced my front 6x8's and if i turn the volume up they will cut in and out. I dont claim to be any wiring genius, in fact i know almost nothing about sound systems.(if i did i wouldnt STILL have this problem) however the only solution that ive been offered by many shops and friends alike is that the whole system has to be rewired and the factory amps be bypassed... dont take this post as scripture, but it might be something worth carefully researching before you start replacing things.

The entire Mach 460 system has been removed from my car so at this point it's a simple matter of plug and play. Problem is that I don't know where to place the things that need to be plugged in.

The kappa series from infinity is top of the line and one of the best speakers I have ever heard. But you need to get an after-market amp to make them sound like they should.

You can find them brand new for half the price on ebay all the time. Don't buy retail.

My brother has the Infinity Perfects (components) in his car and they are the most amazing sounding speakers I have heard, ever. When he has it turned up you can hear him from blocks away while making out every word to the song that's playing.

+1 for buying on ebay, you can seriously find the speakers for dang near half the price.

I had the inf. reference series in my old P/U (2 sets in a reg. cab with 2 10in kicker comps). A buddy had the kappas in his s10 and after I traded in the P/U for the mustang we put 2 sets of Boston Ac. (the mid level price/tier wise) in a buddies jeep cherr. classic.

Everyone was 100% happy with all 3 types. The only inf. speakers I didnt like were the mid and tweet all in ones they had a funky vib. and I took them back for another set 3x's and ended up with another set of components.
