I'm interested upgrading my steering rack. I know flaming river offer many to choose from, but I am interested in factory racks. It seems in some of my research they are different ones from 79 to 04. What are the differences? And which ones are the best to look for. I am assuming (also through my research) they can be swaped to older foxes. I think that part of the difference in the newer racks is where the steering shafts connects, but MM offers modified steering shafts to make it work.

Let me know what you know and let me know what the advantages are.

Thanks

Two years ago I bought an Advanced Auto replacement. That one lasted 30,000 miles before there was a 1/4 in of play in each inner tie rod. These are cheap for a reason.

This time I went with an AGR from Summit and would recommend this to anyone who's replacing their steering rack. Plus, it came with poly bushings.

I'm planning on doing the 99+ GT rack conversion, they have a much tighter feel; the fox rack feels like a Cadillac in comparason. The SN95 racks are good but the new edge racks have even better valving for a sportier feel. I *think* that the '03 Cobra and Mach 1 have different (best) racks, but its not worth hunting one down and paying the extra cost.

The only thing you'll need to do is change the inner tie rods to fox ones since the SN95 inner tie rods are longer. Then get the MM hybrid shaft, or rig up a shaft; from what I read the fox pressue hose is supposed to bolt right on and the fox pump will work with it too.
